So, one of these, except that I need to find a distributor that fits under the fuel rails.

Anyone recognize the distributor in the picture? My Google-Fu has not found anything like it.

Contact Roush.

It appears to be a Mallory unilite. I think.

Ford 5.0 SBF? Use the distributorless sensor from an Explorer and MegaJolt or a full on Megasquirt setup for the fuel side of things, too.

That is a really good idea

351 Windsor, so not explorer stuff for me. Have an e-mail in to Roush, well see if they get back to me.

It's a MSD distributor. What model the install instructions are not specific on.

Stack 8 Install

Yup, made it that far with Google. Contacted Roush explaining that this was for a 351Windsor engine and their return question was:

Tall deck small block, short deck small block or FE?

Ya got me!

Isn't the 351w a tall block?

I feel like someone like you could put parts of a 351w distributor and the explorer sensor together.

If I remember right the 351 Windsor changed from 9.48" to 9.503" deck height sometime in the early 70's. I think even the aftermarket blocks have stayed 9.503" from that point on. Not sure why they are asking about the FE block. 351 was not a production size in the FE but you could make a 351 out of it if you wanted to. Most FE blocks are going to be used for larger builds though. But it's not as common to see FE these days.

In reply to Papabear:

There was a 352 FE. But I think the FE question might have been because they make these intakes for short deck Windsor (221-260-289-302), tall-deck Windsor (351) and FE

That makes sense.

Something I am helping out with, not my battle to fight to death. The Minion is building an "Elenor" Mustang and he has the 8 stack intake but no distributor. The budget is there to buy whatever ignition came with the Roush 8 stack, just a matter of identifying it.

I woulda thought that identifying the engine as a 351 Windsor would have been enough description. Going to guess that "Tall Block would be the correct answer.

What is an "FE" engine anyways since we are on the topic of educating me about all things Ford?

In reply to NOHOME:

FE - Ford/Edsel - Began life in the late 1950s, has MANY iterations. most famous would be 427 side oiler, 427 SOHC also was an FE. More mundane versions would be 352, 360, 390, 406, 428 and I'm sure I've missed one or 2.

429 and 460 are not FE engines
