I'm trying to help a friend of the family sell her Eurovan Winnebago, which is in PDX. Who should she take it to get it shipshape for selling?

Thanks

My buddy Austin is jokingly referred to as "the vanagon whisperer" at a shop called Heckmann & Thiemann Motors where he wrenches on Eurovans, Vanagons and all manner of Porsches. There is a shop called "Steves imports" that specializes in Eurovans. A shop called "German Formula" that does as well. As does "Precision Motorcar"

I am unsurprised that there seems to be half a dozen shops that look to fill this niche in Portland.

Edit: At this time of this year in particular I would bet that they all will have a pretty big backlog/wait list. I suggest they call around

What kind of work do they think it needs? Because of the fun Winny/VW hybrid these can be very difficult to fix especially on the electrical side.

In reply to procainestart :

This "getting it to ship-shape", does that have to do with VW issues or does it have to do with Winnebago issues?

If it were me, I would just have it running and spend the most energy on accentuating the Winnebago side of the equation.  If really looking for the long dollar, I would focus on making the "house" as nice as possible.  Some hours with a significant interior detailer could be the best money spent.

The owner's retired, living on the East Coast; she's left the Eurovan with her daughter in Portland. It needs to be sold, but the owner isn't coming west to do it, and she wants to make it as easy for her daughter as possible.

The roof is apparently cracked (I don't know where or how badly -- I had a friend who had one and the entire thing broke from side to side), so she wants that looked at.

She also wants to have a pre-purchase inspection done from a reputable shop so that she can either opt to nip/tuck a few things before selling, or choose to sell as-is. She wants to provide the PPI in the ad to be up front about what the rig might need, again, to make selling as simple as possible. Having the PPI come from a well regarded shop is important, to confer legitimacy/authority on the description of the rig's condition.

Finally, good call on hiring a detailer; I'll mention it to her.

Thanks everyone.
