some people want to drive their kids to school in a sports car, not a minivan. this car would be for them.
I'm not opposed to a four seat sports car, It just seems odd that Caterham would jump on this bandwagon when it is diabolically opposed to the essence of the "7" which got them where they are...
Again, not against it & wish them good luck being a subset of an already niche market.
Maybe Caterham is wanting to be known for more.
Could be they are trying to become a full fledged specialty car company.
The Porsche 4 door is the same story. 4 doors kinda ruins the P-car essence (refined but minimalist and purpose built). Its Porsche trying to break into a different market where they were previously not represented Same with Caterham.

The only good thing about cars like the Panamera and Cayenne is that they rake in money that's put towards the 911, Boxter, Cayman, and racing programs. I don't think the Panamera and Cayenne have diluted the sports cars, so as much as I don't like them, I don't blame Porsche for making them. I think this is what Caterham is aiming for, and they'd be nuts to abandon the Seven.

How do you know it is ugly if they don't have pics released yet?
For all we know it could be four across

OR 4 in a line. That would give new meaning to the label inline 4.

Or maybe 4 offset inline, like an A-10 warthog. You know: the 1st passenger's legs are by the driver's seatback and so forth. Well, it would save a little length and make the carbody a bit narrower.
Maybe the passengers could qualify as RIOs, and turn this into a ZAV.

like this?
nothing to do with the thread - i just found the image while looking for the three seat F1 car and wanted to share -
I was really hoping that the new mystery caterham would be a reworked 1st generation elise that we could buy as a kit here in the US. Looks like it wont happen.
No one has seen this car so anything is speculation. Who says it will look like a 7 or any other car we know?
There are lots of good looking 4 seater cars on the market so I don't get where people are saying it will be ugly, we don't even know what type of car they will be producing other than sporty and 4 seats.
