Well me and the lady friend flew down to tampa to visit a buddy that owned a miata. We had talked about him selling it to me for the challenge friendly price of $500. Friday we bought the car enjoyed driving around in the beautiful weather that tampa had this week and drove back to ky overnight saturday.
Having driven the car a few times, I more or less knew what I was getting into. The ac doesn't blow cold anymore (thankfully still have some r12 cans) so the ride was a little warm, but beyond that the car is mechanically great.
The vehicle in discussion is a 91 a package, formerly shiny red now varies depending on the body panel. Mostly flat pink (the drifters that bat for the other team dig it) the front end is still something vaguely resembling the original hue. 146xxx on the odo, 75xxx on the motor and clutch. 2 year old top and lots of rot. The right side sill is rusted out in the back and there is a quarter sized bubble on the rear left wheel arch. A little bit of surface rust is present in the trunk and on the top mechanicals.
