Some say that his first new car was a Hyundai and that his life is epic online

Having been a SVT fanboy in the late 90s-00s I still wish they were called Mustang Cobras.

But what a great car and oh man what an epic noise it makes. If any of you buy one want to take me for a ride?

I have never like flat plane sound either- Sounds like something is at war with itself.

Just add your dealer's $20K "Market Adjustment" and you're all set!

I live in the Bay Area. With a weeks notice, I could get the day off. I really appreciate what you all do for us. If JG could use help with this unpleasent assignment, I would be happy to step up.

Mine was an R in Magnetic gray with the black stripes and all the options. $65k. And If I had the money, they'd already have my deposit.

That's a pretty good deal for something that can keep pace with some of the exotic Europeans on a track.

66K for a R spec'd my way. I could see doing that next year. Something tells me you will be looking at 10-15K upcharges for a good long while.

I was hoping you might feel that way. I'll never have the money to do it, but at least I could live vicariously through you.

No pressure or anything.

Buy it.

Looking at the numbers... I can see one of these being possible. Still need to come to terms with the idea of a car payment that was about the same as my mortgage payment... and I'm still waiting to see what the final word will be regarding the Volvo V90 coupe... but maybe in a year or so after the hype dies down and prices get back to MSRP or less. I wouldn't need an R version. A standard, no-options car would be fine. To be honest, one of my bigger concerns is will it fit in my garage.

Yeah... sure a Vette is similar money and maybe more capable... but it'll always be "just a Vette." This is a Shelby. And arguably the most "special" base-model Shelby to come out in a long time.

If I had 30k laying around to put down on a car, I'd buy the 350r in a heartbeat.

Yes, me too. I'll never ever ever ever have that scratch for a car.

So buy it, take video and pictures and post daily.

Now.

Please.

I'm curious what components are used to build the exhaust system on this car. I'm also curious how much sound is coming from the intake, the valvetrain hardware, and the exhaust.

I never understood the cobra thing, maybe there is some context I'm missing. Two unrelated animal names for a car?

I get naming a car after an animal, the car represents the strengths of that animal, but then adding another animal name to it is strange.

'Cause "Mustang Cobra R" sounds frickin cool when said out loud. Does it need more context than that?

It's pretty easy to buy a car that's so stupid fast as to be silly on public roads. At that point, a car needs to be 'special' enough to really interest me. The 350R pushes the right buttons. Maybe I can convince Mrs. Deuce she needs a new daily?

We shall see what ford does in terms of numbers produced. I am still very very bitter over the astronomical pricing and limiting of the GT, also the local guys treated me like trash when I went to look at a LS Boss, especially after not being able to get one of the first generation cars.

Well this caught me from left field. I work at Ford and thought the base price was going to be $54K. But for 'only' $48K that makes a stupid financial decision very very tempting. HEck, with A plan (employee pricing) I keep pricing a loaded GT Convertible at over $40K, I don't believe any deal will honor A plan on a Shelby, but $48K suddenly seems stupidly cheap. Wow, I'm blown away.
