Its like the new-fangled electronic Warm-Up Regulator solution that is controlled by a customized version of MicroSquirt for CIS equipped cars.

It apparently sells well enough, especially to folks with older classics that have CIS, but for most of us who know better we just wonder why go through all that hassle to have that nest of exploded carburetor and vacuums leaks infesting their engine bay?

To each their own, but as the old adage goes, a fool and their money is soon parted.

What's a CIS?

AKA K-Jetronic, an MFI system that controlled fuel by varying fuel pressure to a set of permanently wide-open injectors.

The only people who have issues with cold starts on carburetors are people who can't set them up properly.

Those same people won't be able to set this up either.

I've never owned a carbureted vehicle that had starting issues when cold and most of what I've owned had at least one carburetor.

Also, I feel as though I should be offended, but I'm not sure if I should be offended if my car is or is not equipped with it.

Worse yet, what if it was originally equipped with it, and I removed it?

CIS = Bosch Mechanical Fuel Injection aka K-Jet (and its many derivatives)

When they work, they work well and will work for a long, long time.  Many, many euro cars used in the 70's and 80's

Its a miserable system to look at though and completely on its own for tuning, repair and adjustment in comparison to carbs or efi.

Thank you K&N for perpetuating Fuel Injection's bad name (in the eyes of the unwashed)

700$ and it doesn’t even replace the carb?!?!? Wtf!

Wow, K&N has gone off the rails. I can see some clever tuners using it with a secondary fuel system on boosted applications though.

This is what I can see it being useful as. Someone with a carb-type TBI that needs some more fuel for boost.

This is crazy.  I just bought a new Holley Sniper EFI kit and it was only 1k shipped.

Keep us posted on that, please. I'm gonna be soooo jealous if it works better than my tuning-nightmare Terminator. I'm not sure if the Sniper has the same limitations as the Terminator, but the Terminator doesn't play well with dual-plane intakes.

Yeah, but why though?

Fi tech is $795! That system tunes itself too.

This is madness.

Will do.  This is going on a very mild 350.  I have the Holley HP Stealth Ram multi-port kit on my 55 Handyman wagon and it’s been very good,   but it’s overkill for a mild 350,  plus it was way more expensive than the sniper.

I've been watching the prices drop on the stand alone fuel injection systems. I've considered using one in my 88 C20 so I could add heads and a cam without losing fuel injection.

If this thing is running off carb fuel pressure then its fuel delivery will dwindle to very little once the throttle opens. ~3psi fuel pressure plus the -10psi (~20" vac) when the engine is trying to idle is still 13psi pressure differential, which is what some early TBI systems ran on anyway. Problem is, when you open the throttle you lose that -10 from intake vacuum and now you just have THREE lonely psi of fuel pressure. If that's how this works then it is a very expensive replacement for a properly functioning choke.

Why did I buy the sniper or why is it 1k?

I understand why its 1K, not sure why one would use their EFI stuff, but I like to roll my own so to each their own.

I’ve had good luck with their products and support over the years.  Plus I’m just getting tired of messing with carburetors.
