It's like we share a brain!...you should be worried.

180hp, wonder what kind of torque that thing made?

To googles!!!

250-280 lb/ft!

Not bad.

Racking my brain, thinking back. I believe a buddy was researching them for a Datsun Roaster he was building for Autocross.

I want to say that's right, but it seems so, so wrong. 3.7 liters, alloy block, an aluminum 460 head with HEEUUUUGE valves, and a massive turbo to round out the scenario. I guess I can see the allure in that.

I have no idea why I know this, but that would be a Mercruiser 488. 460 head, aluminum block, and a chevy bellhousing pattern. I guess that makes it a 3.7.

I wonder if anybody has bolted up a Jon Kaase Boss Nine head onto one of those blocks yet?

Apparently it's Achilles heel is it's cam driven water pump. The seal between them has been known to fail and let coolant flood the crankcase.

A friend of mine took his Iron Duke out to (I think) 3.3 liters.

Werent those already known for scattering cranks at 5000 rpm? If they just offset ground the crank and hung heavier pistons off it im guessing it self destructs at 4k now. Not that you'd ever want to rev it higher than that with 3.3 trying to suck through iron duke top end parts.

If you accept turbo as a foregone conclusion, i see almost NO point in stroking a motor vs just starting with one that makes crazy torque on boost anyway.

Electric water pump conversion?

Toyota had the 2TR-FE and the 3RZ-FE which were 2.7L in the Tacoma and 4Runner.

They were terrible or at least I hated the hell out of it in my 4Runner. They meet the > 2.5L criteria though.

Really? That would be awesome if true.

The old 20R Toyota, or its great great grandchild ended up at 2.7, I think, in the late 90's truck.

I think you can still get a base Tacoma with it

Race Engineering has a kit to take the Ford 2300 Pinto motor out to 2.85L, but you'll pay through the nose for it

I've given serious thought to trying to match up to G6 motor things with my F2T, because an F2T with 0.4 more litres sounds obscene and delightful.

Yeah that was the previously mentioned 3rz. That motor is disgusting under boost as well. ALL THE POWER.
