Looks like I will be picking up the Red Europa myself, tired of being jerked around by "Brokers" and flakey drivers.
So tomorrow I put my wiring back together and get ready to drive to Oak View, CA. 93022
Cheap transport, I have to make the trip anyway but some gas money would be good.
I would like to leave Sunday but can delay to Monday.
Seems like a waste to go all that way empty with my 8x12 flat bed one-ton.
So anyone in the Reno/surrounding areas have something they need to send south, even as a partial relay?
Lotus buyer decided to just overpay for a "Pro" hauler so this trip is cancelled.

How much was it per mile ?
The trip MAY still happen as so far no driver has been willing to make the trip even at $3.00 per mile.
Going the "Back" way it is 460 miles.
I figure around $600.00 in fuel for my truck and one night camping out to rest.
So with food under $700.00 to do it myself.
But with his preference for a "Pro" I cannot make plans.
If no driver steps up by Monday I may just do it myself anyway as I am not happy the car is sitting on the street with no tags.
I was just up in that area a couple weeks ago , not sure if they fixed the road north of Ojai , but it's a real winding road and probably no fun with a trailer ,
if you come down I-5 at the bottom of the grade is Hwy 126 towards Fillmore which goes to Ventura.
or thru Simi Valley to the 101 freeway
Which ever way its a long ride !

* Please don't take what I'm gonna say as an attack on your intelligence. It's just that some of what you are saying is not clear to me. Are you the buyer or seller?
If you are the seller, are you being scammed?
A common scam is the buyer sends you a check that includes the additional funds to pay the truck driver. In addition to the truck never coming, the check is no good.
In a more perfect world you have received payment as a wire transfer and the buyer deals with the trucking company directly. I hope you have been paid for the car in real funds (not Paypal, etc.) If you have, just leave the trucking/transport to the buyer.
Brian and I are the buyers.
Car was paid for over two weeks ago, the car was viewed in person before payment and the title collected.
Issue is getting it delivered from So Cal to near Reno.
Truckers want to take 395 through Mammoth which is crowded with skiers and getting snow every night.
It is looking increasingly likely that I will end up going for it myself, but schedule is a question.
No trailer, 8'x12' one-ton flatbed. Europa only weighs 1400#.
I have made the trip as far as Mojave before, not too bad.
Not sure if Mohave to Oak View requires going up "The Grapevine", I think it might?
Only real concern for my truck is that going to such low altitude I might have to back off my timing advance a bit since I have fairly high compression.
Mohave to Oak View does NOT require going up "The Grapevine". but you do pull up I14 from Santa Clarita to Palmdale. Then to 395
Why not rent a trailer? Maybe a one way?
I actually despise trailers.
Had an empty rental go end over end many years ago, wrong size ball.
Lucky for me the weight of the car kept it in place for the longer trip over the Santa Cruz mountains.
Truck will be more pleasant to drive both ways without dragging a trailer and is certainly capable of hauling the car.
This is exactly what I put this truck together for.
Basically a "Ramp Truck" without the ramp extensions.
In an effort to control my weakness for more projects the truck is to be sold soon, which will help fund completion of my Europa.
Alt 95-95-360-6-395-14-126-32.
Claimed to be 7.32 Hrs., so probably 8.5 by truck.
It is still not settled if I am going or not.
If the trucking "Broker" gets a driver in time I will stay home.
But I am out of patience if that is not set up by 9:00 am Monday.
I am spending Sunday making final arrangements.
Loading up my chains, straps, spare gas cans, road tools.
I can start with forty gallons in the tanks and another twenty-five in cans.
I recall that there is an Indian gas station North of Mohave with cheap gas and maybe a motel for the return trip.
Watch the forecast, there's supposed to be another big storm early next week.
Woke up to several inches of snow this morning, I had expected a dusting.
Supposed to be sunny on Monday and I would be heading South.
This winter seems endless.
Survived the trip, resolved to never have to do THAT again.
Now to sell the truck to make sure.
Glad you made it!! Pics??
Yah, I know, pics or it didn't happen.
Red Rock on the way back.
My LAST haul job.
Glad to hear you made it.
I have done LA - Truckee/Reno (pick up car) and bring it back to LA, 7 times in 2022. It is a great gold mine place to find cars. I take a 2020 Dodge 2500 Diesel.
I usually do 50 to 99 to 5.
I took the shortest available route.
Some claim that going 395 So. nearly the whole way is shorter/faster.
But 395 is closed at Mammoth and is going to stay closed for a while.
I'm pleased that the 350 I built was able to pull every grade in fourth gear, I never had to drop to gas guzzling third except to pass.
On the empty leg I pulled many grades in OD, on the loaded return I still pulled more in OD than I would have expected.
Typical for me, now I have the biggest issues of the truck sorted it is time to sell.
But it seems unlikely I will ever be taking any cars to the track, so I do not need a track haul truck.
Wow, now that's a cool picture! Congrats on the trip
Doing it one LAST time.
Reno area to just north of Dan Diego and back.
Picking up a never wrecked Europa body, original paint.
Plan is to leave Friday afternoon and come back Saturday.
Going empty on the way down, unless something not too heavy needs to go south?
8'x12' flat-bed.
