As the opening day for Touristenfahrten–the Nurburgring’s daily open-access tourist laps–nears, the track just announced that there will be something missing from the public sessions on the Nordschleife in 2025: motorcycles.
“The safety of all participants is our top priori…

Honestly, it's probably for the best that bikes have their own days. Mixed traffic is scary.

As a bike guy that's a bummer, but at the same time, there's a reason no one does mixed track days with cars and bikes.

I totally get why bike people would be upset about this but I am amazed that this didn't happen sooner.
Is there a minimum speed to drive the "Ring" ?
The only time I did it we were at a Vintage VW meet and I was driving a VW bus so we were all slow !
Or is there a time where the very fast cars can only run , with no slower cars to get in the way !
The bikes have mixed. That is probably for their own best traffic days. It’s scary, honestly
I've riddlen bikes, and driven cars. It's an entirely different experience. All together.

It's an entirely different kind of flying.
(okay, seriously, I was going to post "Honestly, it's probably for the best that bikes have their own days. Mixed traffic is scary. Altogether" and then you beat me to it

I feel like I started a meme somehow but I don't know what happened.
Just yesterday I was talking to a buddy of mine and I mentioned that it's a shame that my trailer isn't long enough to fit both Miatas. He suggested that I could trailer a Miata and a motorcycle so I could just roll up to the track and take whatever I pleased. I explained that I'd never seen a track day that allowed mixed traffic because of visibility concerns and size difference between vehicles, and that such a thing would be scary; only a couple hours after that conversation, this article popped up.
Y'all might be braver than I but when I'm on track in a car I don't want to risk bumping a bike or hitting a rider who's sliding, and when I'm on track on a bike I don't want to risk a love tap by a car during a pass or playing leapfrog with vehicles of wildly different accelerative capacities.
In reply to brandonsmash :
Technically the ring is a toll road, not a track, so it's not really a track day is it?
In reply to Pete. (l33t FS) :
Ah, you got me there. It's just a regular toll road. With FIA curbing, 24-hour high-speed commutes, and lap records. It still baffles me why Pagani doesn't test their cars on the I-4 and why there aren't manufacturers clamoring to advertise their new sports cars' performance on the Sunpass!

Ah, but some facilities have HPDE weekends where Fri/Sat is cars and Sun/Mon is bikes. Best of both worlds if that's your jam!

I keep hearing that mixed traffic is scary.
Asia doesn't agree.

Don't most (all?) US track ban open wheel cars mixing with regular door-slammers? I can't imagine any allowing bikes with cars as well.
Yeah, that "bump" "bump" when the bike rider in front of you slides under your car has to be annoying.
