1972 Porsche 914 V-6
From add:
I have a 1972 Porsche 914 that has been converted to a 1976 Mustang II 2.7l V-6 Ford Engine. It ran a few years ago, but has been sitting due to lack of time to work on. Was a very fun car to drive as it handles well and sits nice and low. I purchased it back in 2005 and it was originally a California car, so does not have the major rust issues that 914's are common for. I hate to sell, but a new baby has forced me to get rid of my toys. I had the carb re-built, put on new pads (front), and new rotors all around, but because it sat the last couple years there's some work that needs to be done. I have some extra parts that I ordered new that are included. Car can be completely restored as it's a solid example, or can be parted out. Has the rare Gold Fuch style rims and chrome bumpers! The body was perfect, however, when pulled out of storage the put a dent in the rear passenger fender (can be pounded out easily) and a couple scratches on the driver side. Please let me know if you have any questions.
first ford powered v6 ive seen.. not sure thats ever an engine i would choose.. interesting
Aren't those Minilites / Panasports - not Fuchs?
Not Fuchs.
Wonder if he hooked it up to the stock 914 tranny.

They look more like EMPI 8 spoke wheels to me.
They look like the EMPIs that were on my car too, the Fuchs were completely different.
That motor is either a 2.6 or 2.8, not a 2.7. Honestly due to its small size it would not be a bad swap. If it's a sideshift transmission it should probably stand up OK.
If the body's not rotten that would not be a bad price, either.

Isn't that the V6 used in the Euro Capri? That could be a very interesting swap...
So instead of a 914-6 is this a 914\/6?
OKAY dammit you can't put a backslash in a post here. That should be 914 backslash forward-slash 6. A punctuation joke. Now laugh. Thank you.
I sent the seller an email, it is not that far from me and seems to be worth a look.

It's a little bit of a drive for me, but I'd be interested in knowing what kind of condition it's in, so please report back and let us know.

If i remember right that v6 uses the same bell housing and motor mounts as a SBF. For that price you could buy it and swap in a 302 or 351w and have a real screamer on the cheap

It should be a 2.8 liter, since the US never got the 2.6. So you could use some 2.8 hop up stuff or just jam the SOHC 4.0 in from a junk yard ranger/explorer for 210 hp and 254 lb-ft.
Wiki says that the Cologne shares a bell with the Taunus V-4.
Early (72-73) US market Capris had 2.6's, the rest were 2.8's. It's a Cologne engine, it was available in a 2.9 (came in the Ranger) and 4.0 (Ranger/Explorer) version as well. The BH bolt circle is not the same as the SBF V8, though. KEP (Kennedy Engineered Products) still lists the Cologne adapter kit under their P/N 1200.
Careful with the slash and six combinations: That's Slant Six territory!
Is is a 9-Fordteen?
How does that radiator get sufficient airflow?
Seller sez: "The body was perfect...."
I'm sure that it was - in 1972.
Still an interesting combination and priced to allow some sorting out.
I am going to take a look at it tonight. The seller said someone looked at it but needed to run it by "the wife" before he committed money. I will post back later.

Please do report back later after you've already purchased it. GRM will be a better place with a Ford V6 in a 914.
So I went over and took a look at it. Over all it looks fairly good. There is not much rust, the guy said it has only spent the last 21 or months out of California. There was some bubbling behind the handle on the drivers door but other than that it looked good.
The V6 is attached to the 915 trans, the motor install looked clean as did the radiator setup. It does have AC and heat, the ducting was not the best but not too bad either.
The paint is shot but aside from the dent mentioned in the add the body looks straight.
After thinking it over and talking with my wife I am going to pass. It sucks being an adult sometimes but we really need to get out debt down before I get a project, besides I really need to start on my Spit.
The car is only about 10 minutes from me if someone is interested I can go back.
Not that I could ever swing it (too many projects already), but do you mean the engine is bolted to the original 914 transaxle (which is called the 901) or does it have the later 915 box like was used in the 911?
What did the exhaust manifolds look like? Two ports is a 2.6, three is a 2.8/2.9/4.0 etc. I had more than one person look at the 2.6 in my Capri and tell me I had a V4. And I did like the sound of the thing, it'll rev although not a lot of power up top.
