Was this a late 90s/early 00s one? Just an educated guess.
I guess you're sticking with auto if you get a v6 (99% probable, anyway).
I think we should go at least for a 5spd. V6 5spd Camrys aren't easy to find, but there's plenty 4 bangers.

If it hasn't been mentioned (too may posts to look through) ..
The 5S-FE 5 speed bolts up to the V6 without issues other than you need to get a V6 manual flywheel which are available new and custom.
The V6 and i4 manual boxes are the same bar small ratio variances.
if mentioned ignore my post
There's some pretty big strength differences between the S53/S54 and the E153... but probably none that would be explored until you get into the forced induction portion of the experiment.
Vigo, yes and no.
Well thats cool! Ought to be unique since i dont think they were available as v6 5spds in that era.
I know this is oversimplifying in the opinion of a lot of people here, but any time you have 3 liters and a 5spd in a normal weight car, you have a fairly good start on a drivetrain. I really enjoyed the 3.0/5spd-swapped midsize car i sold a few months back.
At any given time, there's usually 3-5 V6 5spd Camrys and Solaras in my area for sale.
The 97-01 trans is what i'm looking for for other things.
Well, i guess texas is some sort of toyota camry twilight zone as i have never seen, driven, or worked on at work, a 97-up 5spd 3.0 camry.
Hopefully since it's rated 60 hp higher it should at least run 15.2 like the dynasty i just sold......
Oh it's one of THOSE body styles.
I was thinking ~94-ish body. This is going to be cool!!!!
When will the 3mzfe motor swap start?

What? You posted a picture of the GRM offices... I don't get it...
By the way.... i'm calling DIBS right now for when/if you sell it. I've never wanted one of your project cars so bad as i want this one already.
(Maybe barring the outlaw'd doriftu AE86)

The GRM Meme Thread is that-a-way.
Or even C4 project vette! You know how manymonths I would have saved if I coulda gotten the GRM staff in on the rebuild?
This was supposed to be one story and done, but I think it's evolved into short series of two or three. Look for it in mid 2013...
But of course, web updates will happen sooner.
That body style with the 4 cyl, a manual trans and some kind of turbo kit could be interesting. I just don't care for sideways v6's...
Ill take a 30-40% power bump and deal with the sideways motor. Honestly those motors arent that bad. Timing belts are even fairly easy.
From experience with my '98 4cyl 5spd, the biggest bang for the buck upgrade was the whiteline F&R swaybars. They were non-adjustable, but they made a huge improvement in handling.
