I was going to publish this to the Classic Motorsports homepage, but Formula 1 won't allow this video to be embedded, so I'll at least share the link because it's worth watching.

Red must be a diffcult color to re-create. I am pretty sure I saw a kart hop by the pilot to get ahead laugh

It's both amazing and eye opening.

While these cars are not slow the corner speeds are. It just demonstrates how fast modern F1 cars and road cars are.

Also in modern F1 we talk about driving standards but forget the winner, Nino Farina, was responsible for the deaths of two drivers during his career.

In reply to Tom1200 :

It's kind of insane that so many of these drivers were totally willing to race.

I mean, they might not have known any better, but safety really seemed to have come last.

I believe it was Paul Frere who summed it up, that after being a paratrooper in WWI, where you were falling out of the sky while some guy tried to machine gun you to death, racing by contrast seemed a lot safer.

Valid point. I know the transition to civilian life is never easy, especially after the kind of stuff some vets saw in action.
