Looking at possibly trading my 2001 Kia Sportage for a Isuzu truck. The truck is a manual 4x4 with extended cab, 2.6L 4 banger.
Aside from being an orphan, what else is there to know about the Isuzus?

with extended cab
aka Spacecab, not too common.
early heads are prone to cracking, later factory castings were improved or "AMC" brand from Spain is best aftermarket option. make sure cooling system is up to snuff and shouldn't really be an issue.
2.6L has lots of grunt, not much higher up but there are a few cam regrinds available. 93+ versions of that engine use a larger single plate TB and matching plenum that can be swapped over. larger MAF sensor as well but you need injectors to match.
capable offroad in stock form, respond well to boost.
I have 3 Isuzu vehicles from this era(all 1988), 2 run the 2.6L 4ZE1, 1 is turbo'd in a rwd Impulse. I think they're easy to work on and straight forward, but many people feel otherwise.
