The ND has arrived in Canadian Mazda showrooms. Guess I won't be buying one anytime soon: Over 40k and there is still more to go on top of that. Not worth it.

The FRS by comparison was 32 all- in parked in the driveway.

Anyone priced one in the states out the door yet?

370Z used to be ridiculous up there as well I hear.

$40k for what I thought was a $20k car is insane though.

ATM they seem to be selling at MSRP + destination + doc fees + taxes down here, at least for the Launch Editions. In my case that worked out at a little over 31k + taxes, but I'm beginning to see the odd post from someone who got a few bucks off on one without getting a Mazda loyalty discount.

Funny, Mazda Canada seems to think MSRP is $31,900 Cdn (source). The exchange rate has changed since the FRS was introduced, too.

The Miata hasn't been a $20k car for at least 15 years. MSRP on a 1999 base model was $19,770 in the US. Then again, $20k isn't worth what you think it is. Adjusted for inflation, the Miata costs less than it did in 1990. But then it had steel wheels and no radio. That base 1999 is equivalent to $28,994 today. It had a radio, but still steel wheels and a manual rack.

In other words, your expectations on pricing are out of date.

$40k CDN is worth about $28k American as of this morning. At the rate it is sinking you should probably come north for your new Miata.

You'll need to log in to post.
