I've just painted a set of wheels. I need to get rubber on them tomorrow. So, baking them to harden the paint seems like a a good idea. I understand that the temps needed to do powder coating (400 F) make aluminum weaker.
What temp is safe for cooking wheels?
I'd say the same temps they might reach in racing use, so I'd keep it under 100C for sure.
While this thread is not about wheels... It is about aluminum...

Nice. Lots of info there I wish I had before I started this whole process.
The paint air dried overnight before baking. In the end I went for 170 degrees (lowest setting on the new oven) for an hour. That got the paint dry enough that it didn't chip when the tires were mounted.
