I ran across these two on ebay;

Ok as a devout hater of these cars, I must say the 4bt one is interesting and the other one looks good.
4bt will be odd though, that motor is a shaker.
The diesel one gets my approval.... I don't understand the LS1 car. Yes, LS1>4.6, but not enough to want to swap it into a "moderately" cool car.
I want the LS1 Vic just to make the Ford/Chevy diehards angry.
A chebby motor in a ferd?!? WHARRRGARBLLL!
I'd take the diesel. That'd be a blast.

I'll take both!
The diesel one would probably be a great tow pig, too...

4.6 'Vics with blown engines or transmissions aren't terribly hard to find.
Iron GenIII + 4L60E = never going to hurt it, let alone kill it.

The LS1 was Chevy's attempt to copy a Ford engine. That's why it's so good... it's more of a 2nd-generation Windsor than a 3rd-generation Chevy.
But now that the link finally loaded... there's so much BS in the ad that I stopped reading before the second paragraph. LSX? Nope. DOHC P71? Nope. What else is he wrong about?
sad that i got outbid on the ls1 car, not terribly because i have no idea where the reserve is. that's where i was going to go with mine if the engine or trans puked, before i found my frame was rotten.

HeheheheeHooofofofohhuh. Wow, that's some funny stuff.
Wide pan rails like a Ford instead of super narrow junk that increases windage and hurts the ability to have any stroke
Crossbolted mains like an FE (or Modular...)
4 bolt heads instead of 5
Symmetrical valve order
Camshaft not down in the weeds
Seems pretty Ford to me...
The heads actually bolt on to a Windsor or Cleveland block, but not only is the valve order reversed (easy fix with a custom camshaft) but so is the leading cylinder, so you can't just alter a Chevy intake to fit.

You do know that LSx heads can actually be bolted to a Windsor Ford, right?

Can you get a bench seat in the +2003 Vics?

There are plenty of crossbolted main engines out there. Mopar had them in the 60s (426 Hemi) as well.
4 bolt heads was also used on other GM engines as well, Olds did it back then too.
Big Block Chevys have symmetrical valve order too, nothing unique to Ford there.
So the stuff used in the LS engine could have came from multiple sources. Only the engineers & designers know for sure where they got the ideas from.
I want a P71 with a Shelby GT500 5.4L swapped into it.
