Gee and I just saw it as a guy talking about making lemonade out of lemons or the silver lining in the dark clouds. Lighten up!
And on top of all that he could bring saturn to nascar, Hes not exactly getting alot of money from dodge right now.
I would rather see him bring Saturn to Grand Am...maybe the turbo ecotec 4 could compete with Lexus, Pontiac, and Ford V8's
I just think it would be great if Saturn comes out with a Skye Coupe that was planned for the Solstice.
I have high hopes for Saturn seeing this.
I was interested in a 3-door Astra, but the combination of weight and lack of power made me reconsider. Maybe Penske could get the turbo ecotec in one, though? American power in a european chassis sounds like win to me.
It would be cool if penske made saturn into a domestic bmw. Like how bmw is over in europe, but over here. Ya know, but without the need for every car having leather and high end (read: expensive) crap in it. A bunch of small rwd cars with nice rides and sports appeal.

lets hope the Pontiac G8 will become the Chevrolet somethingorother baddassery once "the new GM" emerges and they get back to rebadging EVERYTHING just like before.

This is the best idea ive heard all year.

Nah, the powers that be have said the G8 will never become a Cheby anything.

why should we listen to those dumbasses? We (you and I and all the rest of us Americans) own 60% of GM now, they have to listen to us. The jackasses that be got us into this mess in the first place. Berkley those mother berkleyers...I guess Im gonna have to try to get my hands on one before the dying pontiac lots dry up and wither away
I third the domestic BMW idea. Penske should know how to make them handle. This could really be the birth of a great american luxury brand if they work it out right. Problem is that they are starting at the worst possible time for luxury/sport.
Actually I was thinking about how BMW is not just a luxury/sport in europe (like it is here). They sell non-spiffed up version of their cars over there for more of the average person. All the luxury stuff just adds price, IMHO.

Unlikely.
More likely:
They just need to find a way to get around the chicken tax. Mahindra opens a plant in Mexico and sells through the existing Saturn network. It's win-win - Saturn stays alive, gets a real truck, and Mahindra gets market penetration in the US.

And we get a smaller 2.3 direct inject diesel truck. I'd love to see that. Maybe the Saturn dealer network will be a way for us to get all those cool boutique cars the world can buy but we can't.

That's with the present owners. The new owners can make whatever they want to make

I can't see him being overburdened by nostalgia about a rival he beat to the point of turning away potential revenue.

Saturn doesn't build the Skystice. GM does. GM has said they are killing it. They might change their mind, but I doubt it.
Penske isn't getting much in the way of manufacturing capacity in this deal. The new Saturn will have to buy cars from GM in the short term. I suspect they will phase in products from emerging manufacturers (Tata, Mahindra, something Chinese) over the next 5-10 years.
