The FB thread got me thinking. What would be the perfect build that would satisfy an internet forum? Discuss.

Nothing will ever satisfy a forum.
I mean, look at the response when it was announced that the Cruze would get a turbodiesel that would make more power, more torque, and get the same fuel economy as a Jetta for about the same price. Too expensive, no manual trans, too many accessories, not enough accessories, etc.
It could get 60mpg, be able to tow 8,000lb, come with your choice of paddle-shift twin-clutch, old-fashioned stir-stick, or CVT, have a hybrid option (with or without plug-in), out-handle a '90 Miata, and cost $10k, and someone will bitch that it's front wheel drive.
A wartburg with porsche suspension and subie power with the detail of a rallycross e30 or a re-powered 308 gt/4 or maybe the development and multiple iterations of what started life as an MGB GT

That's fuel injected. Carbs can make more power than EFI.
Also, look at how far forward that engine is! Everyone knows that if the engine sits one millimeter ahead of the front axle, then the car will plow like an old farmer.
Plus, it's red. Red is dead. And pushrods? Really? In this day and age why would anyone spend that kind of money on ancient technology? No flathead engines were available?
(this post is snark. Do not attempt to take seriously. All gripes are based on actual sightings found online)

None taken because I have seen the same old tired arguments....
Only thing I can say though is a "streetable" 1500hp 727" beast. Oh and it will run on pump gas.
I agree with Knurled.
Here, we might feel that a complete CTS-V drivetrain-swap into a Prius would make sense, the are other forums out there who would rather see a Prius-swap into the Caddy, because it makes sense to them...
I prefer the former, which is why I am here.
Can't please everyone, so why even try?
This forum? 5.0/LSx Miata swap
RX forums 3/4/6 rotor swaps
Anywhere else total and udder hopelessness.

Heh. I recall posting a link to a dyno pull of some big block and the first response was "It took an engine that big to make only 900hp? FAIL"
I then pointed out that it made more HP/l than any production engine, and it did it without having to rev over 7000rpm.
I'm not quite so sure that anything over about 700hp is terribly practical for the street. You can never actually use the power under any reasonable circumstances, and even if you could, the drivetrain work it takes to tolerate that stuff is outtasight. One of our projects-in-planning is a low four figures big-block Chevelle and the biggest hurdle we're looking at is a transmission that won't grenade, yet is pleasant to live with. We're thinking an ultra-beefed 4L80 will be in the cards. FAST can control it. Next hurdle: Incorporating some sort of electronic switch into the factory staple shifter.
The body-on-frame construction of a P71, the small open-top body of a Miata, the driving dynamics of an E30, and, lest we forget, LS1 power.
Which internet forum? I always thought one of the prius/mpg oriented groups would enjoy my pipe dream of inserting a 500" caddy motor in the hatch of a late model Prius. Yes, Ive sort of measured, should fit using a Eldorado TH425 FWD trans.

possible, especially after we filled the miata with cement.
Also remember, the perfect forum car would have to have a pair of M2's behind the headlights and be able to catch things on fire....

I thought it was the car that caught on fire...

IRS or solid axle?
Depends which forum. Are we talking GRM, CM (now on the same board but not exactly the same crowd), Pirate4x4, a supercar forum, a "stance" forum?
I think the most interesting builds on here are Nashco's Fiero, the Little Lamb-borghini, Loosecannon's Car Formerly Known as an MGB, the Midlana, and Joey's Datsun Phaeton replica (not as interesting performance-wise, but definitely the highest grassroots factor).
See but even on this board people won't agree. I'd say the Fubaru, rx7 hillclimber, the 325 rallycrosser, the 911 rallycrosser, the 02 WRX rally car, and swank force one are the most interesting.

It looks like she was already caught and released - the hook is still in her lip.

So you are suggesting starting with the frame of a P71, and turning that into a LWB Locost? Sounds fun.
