"Perfect" as long as someone else is driving. While I will not deny the romantic notion of such a truck (I get the same oogle-eyes when I pass an Autocar dump truck every day), everything I've read about trucks of that era says they are absolute beasts to drive - and not in a good way. Cramped cabs, uncomfortable seats, poor ventilation, difficult steering, crappy brakes. This is probably why that aforementioned Autocar is parked most of the time while the newer trucks are out working. Maybe it was the owner's first truck and he can't part with it... but it only seems to get used a few times a year.

But without a jake brake, how do I scare the Family Man riding right beside my trailer ("Look, kids! A race car!!")?

Then again, at only $5K for the truck, maybe I'd have enough left over for an enclosed trailer. Problem solved.
