2006 Red, black top/black leather interior, 6spd, 35k miles............I drove it home ~200 miles last night so got a chance to get familiar with it. Gave $13,200 for it, so not a SMOKING deal, but I feel good about it.
Not as slow as I remembered my test drives....entertaining even! Not as loud as I thought it would be cruising 80 down the Interstate........overall I'm happy.
I'm not saving quite as much money as I had planned when getting rid of the Mustang because I spend a few K more to get a nicer/lower mileage car and I put it on a shorter term. However, I'll still be saving enough to cover all my fees/transponder for a weekend when I go to the track in the NA.
A question though..........the car was advertised as a "Grand Touring" trim, but I noticed on the way home it doesn't have the "DSC" button. However, it does have the yellow Bilsteins........so is it just a Touring with leather/BOSE/Sport package?
Not a big deal either way, just curious.
I'm already having terrible thoughts of a tame STR build.
I'd call that a pretty good deal, much as i hate red cars.
Needs a front lip stat!!!
Thanks! Red wasn't my first choice, but it was the best overall deal.
I still really would have preferred the S2000, but it would have MUCH more to get something in similar condition/miles to this one.
Where can I find a nice lip for it? It also needs suspension and better tires.....oops!
Howd you do on the Mustang?
Ate $1000 on it. I'll make that up in 3 months with this though.
I don't feel as I did too bad trading in a special order car after 6 months that I hadn't put any money down on.
that's not bad at all. Make sure you cancel any add ons you bought or may have gotten (Gap, any kind of Warrantee type things). If you have any of that stuff it may reduce that eating.
No DSC probably means no LSD in the rear, but usually that means no Bilsteins either... weird. Call Mazda's HQ number if you're really curious, just gotta give them the VIN to find out for sure.
As for suspension, I highly recommend calling Keith at Flyin Miata. Stage 2 FM Suspension is good stuff.
When you were talking about Red I thought you meant Mica Red which is more common, but kind of bland because it's so dark. I dig the vibrant red.
I think overall you got a very good deal and at 35k miles the Miata will not give you any problems for a long time.
I never liked red cars, but since picking up the red M3 I am growing fond of it. Cleaned up, red cars look very sharp.
Good buy.

Yeah that's why I'm confused, it's obviously not a Grand Touring because no DSC. it was my understanding you could get an LSD without the GT.
From what I've read on the Internet (so it must be true), if its manual with yellow shocks, it has the LSD.
Either way, the car is a blast. Can't wait for the NDs to come out so early high mileage NCs will drop in price to replace the 1.6 as a track rat.
Wait I fail again, you're right. Sports package had Bilstein and LSD if you have a manual. The Premium package had LSD, DSC, HIDs and keyless entry.

I swear the packages on these cars have always been confusing. I was off because I had both of those packages, so that's what threw me. But as long as you have leather, Bose, and a cloth top you have GT.
And since I'm home now I can show you what a little FM suspension and 17x9's do for appearance.
That sounds like a great deal, actually, at that mileage. Sure you can get cheaper but at closer to 100k miles. I highly regret missing a 25k mile NC at $12,500 last spring, I had the cash and was ready to jump on it and it sold in an hour and a half. So it bring spring and only a year later I'd say you did great.
No such thing as a tame STR build ;p keep it to your NA

That's good to hear......it was a 450 mile round trip to get the car....owning a track oriented NA, I don't get the hate toward the NC, it's a fantastic car. And entertaingly quick, dig it.
To be honest, the Track Pack GT was kinda scary to drive even with TC on. Amazing awesome fun car, but I'm much happier with something with a lower limit.
Nice ride! I usually hate red cars also, but the NC looks great in red. Now add a front lip and the bright silver TRM C3s in 17x9 with your choice of sticky tires :D
I know, I'm actually researching suspension setups as we sit in the airport.
Kind of upset I won't get to drive it for a week now!
