My brother and I attended a track day at Laguna Seca yesterday. He's been working on this Porsche 356 kit car for a few years and it's finally ready to hit the track. It was only his second time on track so I went out with him once and watched him for the rest of the day. I brought my camera and long lens. I warmed these up for a vintage look.

Well now I want a 356 kit car of my own.
Also, can I still call it an outlaw if it's a kit car?
Need engine pics. Those are sweet.

Sorry, I didn't get any other pictures of the car. It's a built 2300 VW motor. Roughly 175hp.
Which kit is it based on?

Good question. I'll find out.
175 HP in that little thing will scoot pretty good. I'm glad to see it on the track and not just decorating cars and coffees.

It's a CMC kit. He bought it from a guy in Bakersfield a few years ago (4-5?). It had been started and then parked in a warehouse full of hot rods and project cars for years. The guy had all of the original Porsche trim and gauges to go with it. He just lost interest.
looks cool
what kind of sway bars etc did he use ?
IRS in the back or straight axles ?

He put Bilstein coil overs on the front. R+P out of a Polo.
I believe the rear is IRS.
It has Golf disk brakes F/R.
He is running 140lb springs in the front and 225 lb torsion bars in the rear.
He's got Sway Away 3/4" bars F/R.
Good call on warming up the photo, too.

It's about 95% done. It's still in gel coat. The body needs to be gone over and then painted. Other than that it's a driver.
