Stop what you're doing.. If you have only 1 or 2 cars thats not enough.. get a line of credit, push a parent down the stairs and buy this..
3 months ago, pre 964 I would have this...
I love me some E-Type Jag, but not that much
That was the most god awful version of the E Type.

I cannot even see 5K in parts for resale on that thing.
I cant think of a poorer financial decision than a British sports car that needs a lot of work, you will spend at least as much as a driver is worth getting it to driver grade, plus all the blood sweat and tears.
I always prefered the coupe's to the roadsters.. but not -that- much
I think there is an extra zero on the price... By all means if someone wanted to fix it I think they should, but uncovered carbs and massive rust for $7500? No thanks.
i think this seller is asking a fair price for the car. the coupes have just grown in value and will keep doing so......if i didnt have so many projects for my retirement now i would buy it and just place in the back of the warehouse. the seller always has e-type stuff
this guy also has this one for sale

I also prefer coupes to roadsters, but I have a hard time loving the 2+2. That is close to home, though...

I suppose you watch the market for these cars, but I'd consider that crack-money for that car. I've seen decent E-types in driver condition for ~$20K and it would cost more than $15K to make that car as good, and that's assuming he'd drop the reserve and let it go for the $5K opening bid.
Rust repair on an E-Type makes a Volvo 1800 look easy.
Can't help but wonder how in the hell that happens to a car like this. Its not old enough to be in such bad shape as a function of time alone. Someone hated this car.
In spite of the wonderful patina, you couldn't pay me enough to own this.

yes i have seen drivers at 20k but when you look close at them they have had botched work done on them and need to be reworked. i do follow e types and have looked at many and the ones from 10k to 20k are the ones i feel you can lose the most on if you are not careful. i would rather have a rough barnfind than one that someone patched together which most in the 10k to 20k are

I've seen E-Types in worse condition... Why? Who the hell knows... but people will let old Ferraris that are even more valuable go to dirt from neglect, so there's no saying.
Not that I can talk - my E30 hasn't moved in well voer a month and is slowly flat-spotting in my second driveway... gotta clean it up and sell it soon...

yeah, I understand where you're coming from. Volvo 1800's are similar for me. I'd rather rebuild my car where I know what it needs because it's blatenly obvious, vs many other "better" cars I've seen that are no better upon close inspection.

Just the fact that the nose is so bent out of shape like that, I wouldn't touch that car with a ten foot pole. Heck, there doesn't seem to be one good part on that car...maybe the transmission and back axle?
It's sad, but this isn't worth more than scrap value.
Love E types, but man, I think Madonna looked better at 43.
True dat.
And just when you are done, there will be something else to pay for.
As another forum member put it to me, old British cars are like boats- you either accept it or buy a different car. He's very right.
