So, our build theme is mid 70s privateer.
From mid 60s to the early 80s the build style should remain similar. And this is a challenge car, so I'm not going to make myself insane by pegging a certain year and series...
Anyway, post pictures of your favorite Vintage racers from the 60s to the early 80s. Kelly challenge, imsa, trans am, btcc, whatever. Cars, interior, suspensions, crew uniform, it's all fair game. I want sensory overload for a period of time I wasn't alive for, and race series that I've never seen.
For some reason the 1st thought I had was Dick Johnson's Group A Mustangs.
Then there's Spirit AMX's that ran at the '79 24 hours of nurburgring.
It's the big vintage race weekend at the Glen this weekend. I imagine someone here will be able to bury this thread by Monday.

Bring it on!!!!
RIP Richard Reese
A "Drake" was a water cooled Harley Knucklehead design, built airplane style with the cylinder and the head being one piece (= no head gasket). This allowed ridiculous compression ratios to be run in these methanol burning crowd pleasers! Because they were lighter and made more torque than an Offy they were very successful on short dry/slick tracks.

That's quite tame compared to today's standards.

I came to post that picture those pants are about the pit crew uniforms out there. Andy Granitelli's STP suit may be the only thing that can top it.

You could even expand on the word Camel
In reply to Chadeux:
You're much more awsome at finding Vintage spirit race cars than me.
Keep all types coming. A dimly formed plan is beginning to develop in my brain. But I (insert short circuit voice) need more input!
