A tour through the deep south.

Memphis, Nashville, Birmingham, Pensacola, Atlanta.

If coming near you, spectating is free and it's an incredible car show. (I thinks it's free or at least reasonably cheap that I remember it being worth it.)

We had an amazing time in 2019 when the Tour came thru Indy.  We didn't do the whole route, but that's on the bucket list to do someday:

Unfortunately conflicts with my wife's important industry conference this year. We were planning to Long Haul this year.

It is an awesome car experience. I have gone 4 times (never long hauled but did 2-4 days). I went in 2019 from Charlotte to Martinsville to Bristol. It is a nice time and a casual atmosphere, not a lot of dolls of kids facing their cars or lawn chairs. One of the most fun things is the drive and seeing so many other cool cars on the trip. I don't think I am going to make any of it in 2022 but they usually start where they end the previous year so I am hoping they head up the east coast for 2023.

I live 15 minutes from Summit Motorsports Park, Norwalk, OH so these kind of events come through here often.  As a spectator, if you live in one of these towns but can't take the weekday afternoon off work, also know...

As an example, this year the cars will be at Nashville Super Speedway on Tuesday morning.  This means that on Monday night, the hotels near the track are filled with cool cars.  That night before, in every town, all the hotel parking lots become a bunch of individual cool car shows.  If that area has a strip of hotels and restaurants there can be some fun shenanigans on that strip that evening.

My current build is designed to be Power Tour comfortable. Won't be this year, sadly.

I always wanted to do power tour.  Too bad Caddy will be sold before then as it would be a nice cushy hot rod to run for it.  Cold AC and comfy seats...

It's on my retirement bucket list for 2025 . . . I hope we don't get mocked too badly for bringing a V6 Mustang set up for track use :)

I think that's the best part. All are welcome. You will see half a million dollar custom builds that very wealthy people are driving down the road. One dude drove a Ford GT, had a gang of miles on it and would let anyone who wanted get in and see how it felt. There are rental cars, junk cars, project cars, drag cars. Everyone is very cool and just is there to hang out and enjoy themselves.
like JW said the parking lots and hotels are awesome.

Tons of creative rides there. My friend Charles used to say "you can't be the fastest but you can be the first". I feel similarly about the Power Tour. You can't have the best car there but you can go with what you got make some friends or meet old ones and if you have something way different it will get noticed.

YouTuber Junkyard Digs took this thing.

YouTuber Dylan McCool drove these:

Power Tour doesn't seem to have the snobbery of, say, a Good Guys event. Which is why I find it so appealing.

Spectating at Power Tour can become sensory overload.  A car that might be the coolest thing at your home town event , you might not even notice, because it gets overshadowed by so much else.  Take the time to look close at some thing.  What makes them cool might be very subtle.

One year, HRPT drove right past my house literally. I took at least 5-600 photos. Of course, I had to work that night.

I took my son when it came through DFW a few years back.  I'd like to make Memphis this year or Birmingham, but it's not a sure thing right now.

Dad and I went to spectate when it rolled through MI a number of years back.  He and I did Long Haul in 2019.  It is HIGHLY recommended!

That's a thought. I'm still on the hunt for something from the 60s or 70s. One day the perfect car or truck will pop up at the same time I have some cash burning a hole in my pocket.
