Redbeards youtube is pretty informative without being too "youtube-ish".

go powerpowersports is informative and has a ton of good parts.

Everyone in the minibike groups on FB I'm in were blowing this up yesterday, and somehow I missed it frown.

But, I've got an electric start 212cc Lifan that's getting a Stage 2 upgrade and a stock 196cc that's partly disassembled littering the garage right now.

The 212cc is going into my Coleman CT200U. I'm trying to build a poor man's Rokon. Lots of gear (60t rear), Amazon 30 series torque converter, 18lb valve springs, no governor and a non-EPA carb. I've converted the twist throttle to a thumb style throttle. Before it got tore apart:

I also have a Coleman CT200U-EX. This one will be more of a street build. I wanna run a Stage 2 Predator 224 or 301 with a 30 series torque converter. And swap some SunF hardpack tires on. Should be a fun little bike.

I couldn't convince myself I needed to stop for a motor yesterday, but I did convince my wife to stop the day before when winches were 40% off. Got a small one for the trailer for pretty short money.

I used to work in Field Support, and before a memo would go out, it would be peer reviewed. I was looking over a coworker's memo and he wrote "Tow the plane into the hanger using a wench." I asked him if this wench was hot and he didn't get it. Made my whole week.

Also, Tractor Supply has the Coleman B200R on sale for $200 off:

https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/coleman-196cc-gas-powered-mini-bike-b200r

If you order online and pick it up in the store, you get an additional 10% off.

That makes it $539.99 (before tax) which is a great deal.

You know, just in case you are looking for a home for your $89 212cc Predator wink

I think my new favorite measure of value may be how many 6.5hp engines I could get 'for one of those'.

"I could get three 6.5hp engines for one of those hair dryers... and it only has like 2hp."

She tried to mask it with distain, but I know she was actually impressed.

Here is a link for a HF price tracker , it sends you an email when the price drops or there is a coupon ,

this search I think is for the California model , you may need to change the part number for the other models,

It's interesting how frequent the oil change intervals are on these sorts of engines compared those in cars.

Most of the small air cooled engines get their oil pretty hot under heavy load (and they don't have good temperature control in general like a water cooled engine does).  Plus most of the single cylinders don't have oil filters, plus quite a few of them are splash lubed.  Once you get to the Predator and Honda V-twins then you have an oil cooler, pressurized oiling, and an oil filter.

Oil capacities are pretty small on all of these engines as well.  My Honda mower (190cc) holds just under a pint of oil total.  And the 420cc Briggs on my snowblower holds just over a quart.

So small engines are often harder on oil than most automotive engines and on the engines with no oil filter, more frequent changes are needed just for contaminant removal.

I hate to be THAT guy but cutting the grass is not hard on oil.  I'm > 10 years into running my GCV 160 Honda and have NEVER changed the oil.  It still runs like a top.  Same is true for the 6.5 hp Briggs at our lake property.  The only difference with it is that its oil is old enough to vote.  Some applications with these small engines may be different.  A professional pressure washer for example, or even a lawn care company.  But for someone mowing grass weekly for six month out of the year, it is a complete waste of time and money to change the oil in my experience.
