Just got my tag yesterday, who else?
I posted this on Facebook and had a handful of friends saying gee I wish I could go some day. To which I replied it's ridiculously easy to get a pass. Even I did.
I won't be at this one (I had to deal with SEMA) but there will be a couple of FM guys there. If you see them, give them noogies. Especially Brandon, he deserves it.
PRI > SEMA
Especially for people who are working the show. These are supposed to be trade shows, where manufacturers find distributors, where marketing / sponsorship/ advertising deals get made, and where business types discuss ways to collaborate and help one another out. SEMA has devolved into the world's largest car show. Every Tom Dick and Harry are there, taking pics of cars and waiting in line for the booth babes to sign posters. (yeah buddy....you'll say something clever and she'll go home with you.)
It's lost it's reverence for a lot of companies. It has also become an incredible PITA to navigate from booth to booth, past all the "lookie-loos" They are letting way too many non-industry types in. I"ll admit, I'm jealous....I'd love to go to SEMA to screw off, but that's not what the show is supposed to be.
PRI is focused--- very few "reality" TV stars, very few booth babes---it's a real trade show. I love it, as it's our core. Looking forward to it.....although the move from Orlando to Indy (in December) doesn't make me warm and fuzzy.
Waiting for mine to come in the mail. I have hotel resv. for Thursday & Friday night on the north side of Indy. $400 a night to stay downtown is just a bit to rich for me. LOL!
I know, that move left me cold the first time I went to PRI in Indy as well (literally). Florida was a lot more fun, and we got stuck in Machinery Row because it was either that or one of those out of the way places nobody walked through. Although we did have a few amusing after-hours snowball fights.
But PRI is still a lot more hardcore than SEMA and I like it for that. It's where business gets done.
We'll be in Booth 3359 there.
See you there Matt! Your "Don't touch this--- if you do you will die and it will hurt the whole time you are dying" sticker was still the best display I've seen at ANY trade show!
Look forward to seeing you and the gang in Indy!

Amen, brother. SEMA needs to be open to the public for a few days so the tourists can get their fill, then go industry-only (and REAL industry only, no spouses and buddies, show a W-2 with the company name on it) for those of us who work. Although the problem is primarily in the Racing hall, if you go over to the 4x4 section there's far fewer tourist traffic.
My pictures from SEMA are all closeups of shock cutaways, sound deadening material and the like. No booth babes or show cars.

Kevin is working on programming a very interesting upgrade to this bench for 2016.
You'll need to log in to post.
