I used to think our 7.3 Powerstroke was noisy.

Then my tenant dragged home an old 12-valve Cummins.

Like two cheese graters fornicating in a garbage can.

I always thought my 7.3 was quiet but that's because the truck I had before it was a 12 valve Cummins.

The concept of the truck is great. My dad always had one and my brother has always had one. The best out of all of them was my brothers 90 C1500 Sport pkg(appearance pkg of 454 with a 350. If one came up reasonable, I would consider pulling the trigger. Other than that, I'll stick to the wife's Grand Cherokee  it can tow 6200lbs, is smooth riding and quiet.

6200 lbs is easy to exceed with a car and a flatbed.

It's not even that much when you look at a travel trailer with full tanks, all the toys and those old, heavy ceramic dishes that you retired from the kitchen.

Trailer weight adds up faster than a lot of folks think.

We sold SWMBO's '01 Silverado and my Focus wagon and got a '06 Ranger. It's the fourth Ranger I've had over the last 30 years and I've never been disappointed. This is the first 2.3/5sp out of the bunch. The rest were all 3.0/5sp save for one auto. It's my DD and gets 26-27 mpg easy. I can haul just about anything I need to with it and it's perfect for stuff like rental tools on trailers from Home Despot, etc. I have a small trailer for other things like hauling a round bale of hay home.
