It appears that a nice looking Land Rover Discovery SD7 V8 with Florida plates has broken down in front of my property. I know nothing about them, but it already has a note under the wiper with my number on it. I understand that they can be tricky to fix. What do I need to know?
Also, it has a broken windshield. Are they expensive?
If it is a heated windshield, they're expensive (something like $700-$1000), the regular ones are cheaper.
Find out what happened, if the engine overheated it's going to get expensive.
Also, yes, I am aware that there is currently another active Land Rover thread...
Oh, and check if you can inspect your shoes by lifting the trunk carpet and looking down. They rust, but they don't show that well (steel frame with alloy paneling).

not that I am defending them... even if I do love mine. These are all traits we love in older sports cars... but if a more modern car proves itself to be less than reliable, it is to be shunned?
Personally, while I have not taken mine across any rivers or up any mountains. It is offroading where the Discovery Shines. The Amount of Articulation and ability to crawl over anything while stock puts it superior to many modified off road rigs

That reminds me of when I worked in a motorcycle shop in the '60s. We primarily sold BMWS & Japanese bikes new. But we were also the local Royal Enfield dealership and sold various used British bikes and Harleys.
We kept drip pans under all the Brit bikes & the Hogs and cleaned them every couple of days. Including under the new Royal Enfields.
We were so careful about our cleaning not to keep the drip pans clean, but rather to assure the bike above still had oil in it. In fact we looked for different puddles, one under each separate cavity that should have held oil.

What year Disco and whats broke?
I've had two different Land Rover Techs tell me to never buy one and in just about every thread (on non Land Rover forums) asking about them, almost everyone says don't buy one.

Buy it, yank the engine, rebuild it with performance mods, drop it into something small and British. Scrap the rest.
