racing 928, tied to other thead

Alright those of you who were following my other thread about the Red racing 928 found here

I talked to him and it's an interesting story. He has not one or three 928's but 5... I think. I'm in Alaska and it was a lousy connection. So he runs some or all of them in the NW SCCA. His wife says too many race cars to maintain, so he has to thin the herd. My understanding is that of the three for sale, two are all out track cars, stripped out interior, fire suppresion, minor tweaks. Runs ITE which I believe is kind of a catch all for unusual cars. One is more complete streetable, I'm not sure if this is the one that he describes as a drive to the track racer. Price for any one of the three is $7K I guess it's a pick you color kind of deal.

Because it wasn't his idea of selling off the cars he hasn't developed the plan too far yet.

So there you have it, I would probably buy one just to have a different track car, in the NW, after hearing that V8 on the youtube vids, man what a sound. Plus it's a good way in to PCA and if they have SCCA logs then that as well. In the NW there is also the ISCCA and other venues.

If I find out more I'll let you know.

These cars have been going up in value. If there is an S4 or GTS in the herd take it no matter what the color!!!!

woooooow. I've wanted a 928 for ages now. that is awesome.

I'm really loving the idea of a street drivable track car (particularly if it's vintage eligible). It harks back to a simpler time, the gentlemen/women racer. Drive to the track, throw on the racing tires (or not), go out and lap at 8-9 tenths for fun racing like minded folks in similar speed/skill cars, and go home. No tow vehicles to pay for, no trailers, no OMG, I need to spend $xK dollars this weekend to be competitive. Just go out and have fun.

He is supposed to send me more info. Maybe by this weekend. The Florida miata is my drive to the track car now, go up to Road Atlanta drive hpde for the weekend and then drive home, flat spotted tire and all. I always figure if I mess up, well uhaul rents trucks and trailers. I need this so when I spend my summers in Seattle I'll have a track car too. That was supposed to be the deal I made with my wife when we bought her the CR-V rather than the boxster I wanted..
