Picked up a 2004 Focus wagon for practically free from family. Its an automatic daily winter driver. Since I have essentially no money in it, I'd like to do some changes to make it more of a backroad bomber. What I want is a taller, meatier snow tires, as much suspension lift as practical/affordable, and bull bar/roo bar/brush guard, and LED light bars.

Yes, I'm looking for a bit of ZAV style lift and tires. I want this to work, but also look cool. The roo bar simply to mount lights to. The real problems are the goofy bolt pattern, 4x108. I know the Fox body Stangs used this pattern, but at a lower offsest. The wheels if used will be very close to sticking out. I am willing to cut the fenders to get them to fit, and slap on a set of cheap E-Bay 240Z flares to hide the butchery. Led LEDs would be tied into the high beams, so even if I use the cheap e-Bay lights (and I probably will) I'm not blinding anyone.

The other problem is the wagon's rear axles are different than all the others. Most of the rally lifts I've seen talked about are not for the wagon.

Are these related to the Volvo P1 platform?

Not sure. I honestly don't know much about the first gen Focus.

I usually look to see if there’s a relative (like the Volvo P1/P2 platforms) and then see if there’s a heavier version (yours already is as a wagon) or an AWD version.

Im curious about whether the Volvo relationship might be a path to follow considering they have awd (taller) versions of many of their cars

Saab 900/9000 wheels- they're 4x108 and have slightly lower offset than your Focus wheels.  Paint them white or another bright color and they look like legit rally wheels.

If you want even less offset with the same bolt pattern, Fox Mustang "Turbine" wheels have a similar look and are pretty common:

For lifting it, nothing is cheaper and easier than "spring rubbers" like these.  Jack the car up, cram them in, maybe secure with a ziptie or two, done.

For tires, there are plenty of decent 14/15" snows on the market.  If you want something really gnarly looking tire recappers make a pretty serious looking 205/65R15 retread tire that should fit.

Ha! Nope. I had a hooptie with blown shocks. Fun for about 15 min. I want this car to live (and let die.)

Also the Volvo S40 and first gen Transit Connect share the same suspension and subframes, so, the Connect might be where I get "bigger" springs.
