This is how I shaped my intercooler duct, using some very large c-channel pieces to act as a home brew metal brake. For smaller brackets, I'm quite fond of large sockets. Gives you a gentle radius, and you are less likely to induce stress fractures by bending the metal into a sharp shape...
I had no idea this process -- which I've been using for years -- had a name.

Just goes to show you don't always need a crazy expensive tool or an overly complicated process to get the job done.
