I was texting with my younger sister earlier tonight. She's currently driving an Acura TSX with around 225k on it, and just got back from the mechanic. Among other things, the mechanic recommended a timing chain replacement - which kind of surprised me a bit.
Anyone have recommendations for a good Honda shop in the Chicago area? I suspect that she's getting upsold because she's small and Asian...
This place is pretty reputable.

I wouldn't be THAT surprised. The K-series chain tensioners are known for losing pressure around 150k and it's not uncommon for them to need a chain service once they pass 200k. Honda has updated the tensioner and guide design a few times but if it has never had those parts replaced, 225k is right about the time it would be due for a chain service.

Huh, didn't know that was a thing. Thanks.
