There will always be an England. I loved that car. Bob Tullius and Group 44 dominated Trans Am and IMSA GTO with it.

I have no gray hair either :),
1979? Young fella, you have no idea how many cool cars you missed. I'll think my lucky stars that I was born 28 yrs before 1979. And I'm still not totally grey yet either.:-)

I'm baaarely older than you and I have a few gray hairs. Heck, my wife is the same age as you and she's got more gray than I do!
Gray is cool.

Same here. I was alive for less than half a month of '79.
Youth is so wasted on the young.
Got to watch the TrV8's in the flesh; awesome cars! Also got to watch PLN start his track career in 510's, Tr6's, Tr7's and Tr8's, things he used to win a few national championships.
Oh, and I do have some gray hairs but they're most evident when I let the beard grow out.............

So.... (seeing as how I was born in 79 as well) can I call you grandpa short-n-curly?
Joey
They added Caltex Chase in the mid 80's after a fatal wreck, it took some speed away from Conrod Straight, but they now take the chase flat out.

The story as I remember it is the SCCA didn't want the Triumph TR8 in the TransAm series as they wanted to keep it as a predominately Detroit Iron series so they kept adding weight penalties to the TR8. The reason why Tullius stopped to pit with one lap to go was to take on fuel so the car would make the weight limit. They had about a minute lead at this time so the pit stop was no big deal.
Group 44 won the first three TransAm races they entered but after the third win SCCA still wanted to add more weight to their car. Group 44 finally said screw it and went over to racing IMSA in the GTO catagorie.
Yeah, I do miss those days.

1979? Actually this is my high school and this was shot a year before - 1978. I graduated in 1980.
We had a smoking area that allowed any student to smoke. I turned 14 on 9/2/76 and started school about a week before my birthday.
In theory I could have stood out in our smoking area at the age of 13 and smoked cigarettes and not get in trouble. Today kids get suspended for a pocket knife.

I graduated h.s in 1970. Back then if you didn't smoke you just weren't cool. Even the h.s. athletes smoked. The drinking age in most US states was 18 and drinking & driving just wasn't considered that big a deal.
But I don't know what this has to do with the Group 44 TR8.
