Any tricks to removing the door on a Miata? Looks like it's pretty strait-forward. The only thing I think might cause any problem are the wires for the speaker. Where do you disconnect those to remove the door? Any surprises I should know about? I figure I probably want to disconnect wires before unbolting the door.

Thanks.

The last one that I removed, I removed the inside panel, then the speaker, snaked arm up inside and pushed wires and plug out of the door. Then, with a friend holding the door (so that it didn't fall and damage the bottom), unbolted. I may be forgetting something though, as it has been a while.

Sounds about right. I think the speaker wires are disconnected inside the door. Our salvage guy sez "they're kinda hard to get at".

Depending on what year, the door wiring is a separate harness. You can either pull off the panel, pull open the rubber bellows, and snake the wires out the the door through the hole, or you can unplug them from the dash harness (front harness in the service manual) and snake them through the lower A-pillar and remove them along with the door.

Don't forget the piece that limits how far the door swings open. Make sure to knock that pin out (up) before unbolting the hinges. It makes it much easier if you aren't trying to hold the weight of the door while doing.
