That's what I was thinking when I suggested a Dremel with cutoff wheel.
a HF zaw-zaw is only $30 ... not the greatest, but it's done everything I've needed it to

There's a Sawz-y'all you run with your arm called a hacksaw.
Seeing as I have every means known to man for cutting metal, I'd long ago forgotten the humble hacksaw. But I was in the garage and the Sawz-y'all was in the basement and it was raining. So I dug out a hacksaw and was done before I'd have even found my keys to get into the basement. So, no sawz-y'all? Use a hacksaw.

Lol, looking at that miata in your garage it does appear that you cut quite a bit away. A trustworthy reference ;)
I'll be keeping an eye on the HarborFreight coupons. The lady and budget keeper said I can get one. We're moving to Portland, OR soon so I'm trying to get the frame near complete, or at least fully welded on the big sections, and rid of the extra weight (control arms and subframes).
The HF sawzall works awesome, just don't bother with the blades that it comes with. Go straight to Lowes or Menards and get some Lenox blades.
I cut pretty much 90% of the suspension off the Escort with one due to the same issues you're seeing here. Went through everything like butter with the good blades. (They last WAY longer, too.)
