One of the seatbelts for the third row of my Suburban is sticky--it doesn't extend. From searching the interwebz this is not an uncommon problem. So, I need to find a replacement seatbelt. This is one of the belts that retracts into the seat itself. What are my options for finding a replacement without paying dealer prices? I checked ebay and don't see any. Quick scan of the local CL auto parts doesn't show any totalled vehicles that could be donors.

Perhaps something from Wesco Performance will fit the bill?

What about washing it with soap and water? I would give it a shot and it might cure your problems.

I always get replacement seatbelt parts from junkyards.

Have you checked dealer pricing? Sometimes not so bad, plus seatbelts are one of those things they tend to extend warranty on if there are any known issues. Might be worth a call to the GM store- have the last 8 of your VIN handy.

What he said ^^^

A new driver side sear belt for my Durango was $200 from the dealer. I went to the local place and they didn't have it, but they were part of a junk yard network, so they were able to find it at a yard in Wisconsin, in the color I needed too, they shipped it down at no cost, but it was $60 IIRC.

i see rear seats out of Suburbans on CL all the time... generally around $200 for both rear seats...

Another vote for "talk to the dealer". Honda has a sort of silent lifetime warranty on seat belt stuff. Chevy might have something similar.

Thanks for this link. These will be used when I upgrade the belts in my 122s'.

another question on the seat belts front ...

how do you service the belt retraction system ? (so that they'll retract all the way each time)

I thought it was federally mandated that the company must replace them unless it was something you did to it. I know that is the case with those stupid automatic belts.
