Is it possible/practical/desireable to repurpose an A/C condensor as an external tranny cooler?

They're both basically radiators, right?

Might be good to use as a tranny cooler. Heat and pressure should be fine. You might want to put a thermostat with bypass in line so you dont run to cool on cold days.

I doubt trans coolers need to be THAT big?

But smaller ones from old appliances are cheap (mini fridge, etc.)

Is this a lot of money for the proper type of cooler?

Yes it can.

Most of them say Trans/Oil cooler on the box.

Not at all. I just figured I'm pulling out the A/C anyway, so why rip out a factory mounted radiator just to spend $50+shipping to zip-tie a different radiator in it's place?

I just want to make sure that I'm not gonna blow up my tranny by going this route.
