and the best part is ted chirstopher is gonna run one.. guy will race anything anywere. he has run the rolex24 also. plus trucks, pro stocks, 3/4 midgets and cup cars.plus he is awesome in an asphalt modified.
Ted Christopher IS an awesome driver. I've watch him run Watkins Glen and he knows how to get through the twisties really well, no matter what he is driving. If he should ever decicd to get serious about road racing, look out.
I once considered getting a used Mod Lite to use as an autoX car. seems like that sheetmetal origami body could be folded to make a LOT of downforce at not much speed... just sayin'
A shop I used to work at set up a roundy-round car as a road race car once (an outdated nascar spare from a big team). Getting it to turn both directions was interesting to say the least. One of the front frame rails was a good 6 inches or so higher than the other. After trying a few spacers, longer shock/spring setups on one side, and various other things, they ended up cutting the whole front end off the car and making something "square". It never turned very well but with ~600 HP on tap it was a rocket down the straights. I never got to drive it but the owner always came off the track looking a little shaken. I guess it was an absolute monster to drive.
The first day we had it you could hardly push it around the shop, it would sort of "bind" when you tried to move it in a somewhat straight line. I really wish I could have been involved in that project, but I was a mop/fetch tools 15 year old at the time.
This should be a hilarious series to watch. Roundy-round cars are somewhat disposable by nature and guys tend to drive them accordingly.

I lol'd. Thank you.
I've never seen dirt cars on a road course. It looks awesome. Although there are THESE that race at Summit Point, VIR, Road Atlanta and other tracks in the south. They race with the GT and other big bore cars. They're classes as GTA (Grand Touring American) Basically old cup cars or Grand stock oval cars around 750 hp. Hewand 4 speed. Clutchless shifting, I talked to a guy who said he "drives it like he used to drive his open wheel car and a go-kart" I find that pretty crazy.
