Been seeing alot of 04-05 RX8 lately in the low 5k range and even test drove one at a local used car lot. Just wanted to know is there any way to tell if the motor had been replaced, like under warranty? Carfax didn't show anything. I wouldn't mind owning one if I knew the motor had some life left in it.
A Mazda dealer should be able to tell you. They might want to see proof of ownership though, so the seller might need to get that info for you.
Also get a compression (rotary specific tool needed) check before buying a used one, even if the engine has been changed.
