I have a wrecked 1993 Saab 900 Turbo convertible. After wrecking it, I got a 1994 Saab 900 convertible (no turbo). A friend of mine thinks that I could harvest the turbo from the wrecked vehicle and install it in the 94 Saab I am now driving.

Is this idea possible? Even if it is possible, is it practical? If the answers are "yes-yes", does anyone know where I can find more information online on how to go about it.

Thanks.

Ha, I wrote that. I have a more refined version of the write-up; gimme a couple days (it's at work) and I'll put it on the web and post a link here.

One thing to note about your '94 convt. NA: the 2.1L engines are prone to headgasket failure, so be aware of this risk. For more information about it, see here:

Thanks for the fast responses. I will share the information with my friend. If this is going to get done on my car, it will be up to him to take it on. I'll also look for that refined version link you mentioned. Please do post it!

Many thanks.

Stieve,

Here's a PDF of the write-up I did to describe how to turbocharge a non-turbo "classic" Saab 900:

Hope it helps...
