TG UK new presenters...

I'm ok with both of those choices. The show won't be the same, but with those guys it won't be bad.

Chris Harris is a joy to watch. I'm happy that he'll get some much deserved recognition via TG.

The part that struck me is that they'll make more in each Google episode than they did annually with the BBC show, which was somewhere around 1M BP... incredible.

A shame that Netflix wasn't able to take on the show.

I'm wondering how revamped it will be. I could see Sabine being part co-host, part Stig replacement.

We know that at least two of the hosts can really drive, but I wonder how Harris' ego will deal with being the #2 driver?

Can't wait to see how it comes out. The original three weren't exactly starving, while they may not have made much money per episode there were a lot of spinoff products.

Good move, Sabine is a fantastic choice, I can easily see Sabine vs The Stig becoming a feature.

Not a bad move. People already in the know about Chris will flock. Others will come for the sex appeal of Sabine, but stay when they realize how ridiculously talented she is. As for the other guy, is it bad that I don't know who he is?

Chris Evans is a real car guy (he's actually been on Top Gear, when he loaned them one of his vintage Ferraris) and well known in the UK as a TV and radio host. For most of the UK public, Harris and Sabine are the unknowns.

He was on twice. The first time was as a Star in a Reasonably Priced car after he took over the Morning Radio show that Terry Wogen ran for decades. He and Clarkson talked quite a bit about his Ferrari collection among other things. I find his voice and personality a little annoying, so I don't give this show high hopes for having the same success it once did.

The first rule of Top Gear is that it's never as good as it used to be. I'm pretty sure people said that in Series 2 when they brought in the third presenter.

In reply to Keith Tanner:

But did top gear have anywhere near the cult following as before "new" top gear? Not new new top gear. I was too young to know much more than it wasn't as interesting and exciting as when the trip was around.

Also is it bad that I won't watch it mainly because I just don't like squirrely little red headed man? He just doesn't jive with me I suppose.

I'm referring to when New Top Gear came on the air, not the old Consumer Reports Top Gear. James May wasn't in the first series. "Series" is the equivalent of a season in TG speak, as they're not tied to a regular schedule.

Really, it's just an observation on every. single. time. there's a new episode or series, there's always the standard "they're not as good as they used to be" comments. It's been going on for years.

If they are unknown, how do I know about them?

Sabine isn't just attractive, she's been on the show twice, once as a guest from Top Gear Germany. I'm shocked that they didn't mention she was a race car driver, or maybe she became pro after her appearances (or maybe I just forgot). Chris Harris has been on /Drive and Chris Harris on Cars on Youtube for the last 2 or 3 years doing video reviews.

It applies to any TV show that's been on for more than 5 years or so. SNL, The Simpsons, etc.

Apples and Oranges. I don't know anyone that would argue that SNL or Simpsons is anything near as good as it used to be.

Top Gear has always been good and only got better IMHO.

Not trolling here, really. I thought the 3 old hosts were going to be on Amazon's streaming service and ass-u-me the actual TG with new hosts will be back on BBC, so I'm confused by the "google" reference in the quoted post?

Chris Harris annoys the crap out of me and he dresses like a moron, but MAN does he do great car reviews. I mean, seriously greta stuff. Sabine is my hero, I'd watch if it were her, Hitler and Pol Pot.

My point is that people always say a show "used to be better", whether it was or not. The early seasons of SNL had just as many dud sketches as the recent ones, but nobody remembers them. And it's gone through so many cycles of good and bad, you can't really call it a trend.

Go watch the first series of New TG with that Jason guy and tell me how good it was then.
