Wow, by his posts and views, I thought he was like 40 or 50. NOT 40 + 50!
Well done sir! Wheeling it to the end!

I had NO idea he was in his 90's. I would never had guessed that. Godspeed. You'll be missed around here.
In think we need "drive like your 90" t-shirts or stickers in his honor.
What a privilege to know the guy, even if it was only online.
Always appreciated his posts. Had no idea he was 91! And he had a BG chassis! I think I may go back and re-read some of them now.
Thank you for your contributions iceracer, your posts will be missed!

I love this^.
I had no idea he was 90 plus.
And he used a great car, I have repeatedly told people that my zx2 does great in winter and they never really believe me. I'm gonna point out the pic every time now as an example
Thank you for sharing that Woody. I got to meet him about 10 years ago and never would have believed his age. He was filled with energy and excitement for the coming winter. I'm glad he lived well right to the end.
That does make me sad, especially as the son of a Johnstown boy long removed.
Thanks for the heads up Woody!

No way is he resting. That man is shredding a frozen lake in Heaven.
Iceracer RIP. I salute you sir.
I have known many people in their 80s and 90s that are young men as I believe you were. They fly airplanes, sail boats drive sporty cars, socialize and participate in society. They pass on the wisdom gained from many years of striving to be best that they can and never quit trying. These people are inspirational and I will include you when I think about them.

Here are a few quotes from Iceracer found on AMEC 50th anniversary page .
Two great submissions from Dick Vedder, first is his Goliath which he writes about below. The photo was taken on his way to the Lake George ice races in 1968. It sounds like a cool car (is this where Subaru got its ideas?)
Second Photo is of Dick and his Saab from July 1973 at the Ellenville Hillclimb. In the photo note the left front fender “1972 AMEC Autocross Champion.”
Dick writes,
The Goliath was made by Borgward in Germany, also known as Goliath Hansa in later models. It was front wheel drive with an all aluminum water cooled horizontally opposed 1100 cc engine, think of a water cooled VW. For cars in the 1100cc category it was very competitive against VW’s, SAAB’s, Renaults etc. This is the same car that I ran in the 10 Hour Little Lemans at Lime Rock. The car got mentioned on Road & Track in their report on the race. Unfortunately my copy has gotten lost. I ran the car in the Keene hillclimb three times, taking third, second & first and a lot of laps at Charlton. Also won a trophy in drag racing at Fonda. This was NASCAR sanctioned. The last race was at Lake George in 1968. It dropped a valve and destroyed the engine.
I did rebuild the engine after Lime Rock, started to smoke, did some minor mods, milled heads, 3 angle valve job, port matching etc.
Dick Vedder
I raced with him in 2006. I could not keep up. He was 4th in season points out of 35 competitors in his class. He was only 77 then.
We all should be doing this when we are 80.
