I have a bunch of aluminum wheels all useless. What can I expect per pound at the scrapyard?

Between 25 and 45 cents per lb.

356 aluminum (most aluminum wheels) around $.82/lb. Call the local scrap yards and ask before taking them.

I had a set of four 83 Z28 wheels that I tried to sell for months, but no one wanted them. I got $44 for the set at my local scrap yard. I didn't even need to dismount the tires.

Wow, thats pretty good.

I usually get 45 cents for solids (380 Alum) and around 25 cents for 6061 turnings.

$0.82 sounds about right. I had a pair of MINI Cooper 15's that weighed (iirc) 16 lbs each, and got $12/ea.

I was at a local salvage yard the other day and was watching them prepare the cars to be put out on the lot. There is one guy there who's job is to take the tires off all the alloy/aluminum wheels. He literally has hundreds to do, and once they are off he throws them into a giant front end loader which eventually dumps them on this giant mountain (seriously!) of wheels in the back. I later had a chance to talk to one of the employees and he said that they make all their money on recycling. The parts sold in the yard are just extra icing on the cake.

You can count on around $15 per wheel here. Maybe a little extra if they're heavy.
