We've had some choppy seas today on our server; I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I'm still chasing down whatever item on the database that's causing the hangups, but I'll find it wherever it's hiding.
Thanks for your patience!

Tom,
Thanks for working on it over the weekend. If you don't have it fixed tomorrow, productivity across the country will be up 10% at least.
PS - The 924 thread page 3 makes it crash for me, everything else seems to work.

Good tip. Thanks!

That very well may have been the culprit— I got a 502 while waiting for that page to load, but still nothing on the server log to indicate which process failed. Another server restart got us rolling again.
Using the "chainsaw" method of damage control, I amputated several posts so whatever link/hotlink/image post was causing trouble is gone. We'll see if that helps the whole site, but the thread is at least functional again.

When in doubt, use a bigger hammer!

By "productivity", you mean "Craigslist searches", right?
We need to find an abandoned or underused forum where we can all go and regroup in the event of another such crisis. It was a long weekend and I was worried about all you guys.
And your cars.

Thanks Tom!!
I thought it was a barrage of entries for the factory five stuff.
We're a patient bunch, I'd say. This forum is free, we appreciate you guys getting it back up and running!

autocrossforum.com is pretty low traffic....
Hey, thanks to everybody at GRM and especially you, Tom, for getting us back in action! Not the way you wanted to spend Sunday, I'm sure. Thanks again.
I too appreciate your work. But I think GRM needs to step up to the plate here. See, you guys/gals have built this community that attracts and enables those of us with rediculous addiction. We find this nirvana, come to rely on it, yes love it. Then it goes away. What are we supposed to do now? Interract with humans in the flesh? Do something productive? Go to the bathroom? You can't just do that to us!
I'm envisioning something akin to the oxygen bags that drop from overhead on an airplane, only this would be some emergency supply of GRM-ness. Nothing Fancy, just a little LCD screen that drops from the ceiling of our house that has a loop of Ken Block, the ZR-1 lapping the Nurbrugringinging and some LSX Miatas to keep us going while you put the (our) world back together?
Throw us a bone....
Not being a computer geek, but definitely being a heavy user, I also appreciate your overtime efforts. I don't understand how a single post entry can kludge the entire system, as I know you have many more layers of protection than I do. But, just really glad it's fixed.
thats ok though.. it gave me time to talk my wife intog ettin me the 10 year subscription... ding win for me..
Man, with the site down all I had time to do was paint the tank/seat/fender on the bike, clean the house and watch porn.
Thanks Tom! Being in IT, I appreciate your efforts over the weekend! If you ever need some tech support, feel free to send a PM my way...
You'll need to log in to post.
