Almost all information on the internet for this car is on de.wikipedia and that car thread, it is a 1200CC flat four, rear-engine, rear drive with a vaccum actuated automatic transmission?

Not rotary!!! It would already be here if it were, but then again he wouldn't let it go if it were so maybe not. NSU made rotary cars, but not rear engine one I believe. This engine is an air-cooled inline-4 if I remember right. 1200cc or thereabouts.
is this a real question?... if nothing buy it... drive it for a year or so... then sell it (with traders first rights) when you get tired of the "weirdness"...
then again you are asking this on the GRM forum... what answer did you expect to hear? :)... but it does look like a very fun and weird car to take to cruiz ins and such... as many others here i'd never heard of the brand before... and being GRMers tend to be the most eclectic car group i've ever known I'd guess few others know of the brand either

It is. The 1000cc version of this engine was also used as a basis for the engine of the "Münch Mammut) motorcycle.
They also had a couple of hotted up versions like the NSU 1000TT that were pretty successful racer and I think still are in hillclimbs and vintage racing in Germany.
Cool car, I'd probably do the swap, too, but I'd try to figure out if it's feasible to swap the auto for a manual gearbox.
I think I'm the only one on here saying this, but I say no way! The Sapporo is the way cooler car, I think, but that's just me, and you seem set on the NSU. But in my opinion, this thing is way cool:
I saw an Ro80 puttering around town a few months ago, neat car. The NSU looks really neat. I don't know if it is a great trade but the nsu definitely is cool.
This is the only forum on the planet that everybody gets excited over a car that looks like an amphibious toaster.
Sure, why not!

I wish it still had those rims on it. The seller sold those before I bought the car. They make the car look so much cooler. I don't even know what kind of wheels they are, but I like 'em.
I like both of those cars about equally. It would be a hard decision. I think you should ask him to let you borrow the NSU for a few hours, and make the decision based upon driving enjoyment.

Nailed it!!! Those are the wheels. Now I need to find a set that I can afford, and fit the car. The good thing this car uses a normal bolt pattern unlike my RX-7,or any of my older Mazda's through the years.

HE SAID....
THIS IS THE ONLY FORUM ON THE PLANET THAT EVERYBODY GETS EXCITED OVER A CAR THAT LOOKS LIKE AN AMPHIBIOUS TOASTER.
in the end all comes down to what you want to drive... I know you where trying to sell the Sapporo (which is admittedly cool)
but I know you mentioned a hard time selling it... if you want the amphibians toaster then i'd get it as you get something you want and don't have to sell the uber odd 80's car to get it...
would the NSU be any more difficult to sell (or worth less) when it comes time to move on?... are you wanting to sell the sapporo just because you are board with it?...
if I was looking for another kewl toy and not in need of the money then i'd snap up the NSU in a min... it's weird and quirky... more so then the uber 80s' car... but i've never owned anything older then me... yet :( so that would be part of the allure to me lol
What the hell is going on at BaT? First they listed a Sapporo a few weeks back just when I am thinking about selling mine, and now they have an almost exact copy of the NSU I might trade the Sapporo for listed. Of course they list it as a Prinz which it is not, but just the same I think they are in my head. Off to get some tinfoil.
If the Sapporo was a stick I would have jumped on it, having seen it in person it is unusual, in great shape and has some very cool features. In reality it was a good thing it wasn't stick though.
It was called a Scorpion back home and wasn't rare there.
That NSU though, that is rare anywhere

BWAHAHAHAHAHA....
On a side note, would it be possible to not make the trade, and work out a payment plan with your buddy over the NSU? Then you could have both...
