I've eliminated the tensioner, power steering, air conditioner, and smog pump on my Ford 5.0 engine. Of course I'll need to find a shorter belt somewhere, but I'm wondering which one is best, a deep V or truncated V?

I've heard that the deep V makes more contact and is the industry standard for OEM, but also heard that the truncated V runs cooler and allows for debris to contact the pulley ribs without affecting the belt function.

Any idea which version to go with? Also wondering if I can buy either belt by length at the FLAPS or do I need to measure and special order from an on-line supplier like Summit or Speedway or ?

No doubt something that I ought to already know, but I don't . . .

Thanks !
