a piece of electrical tape placed over the light is easier than trying to blow smoke thru it..

Designed around actually being concerned about how well the evaporative emissions system works long-term? Yep.

A lot better than the pre-OBD-II stuff where evap systems were, more or less, shove a tube somewhere on a tank and route it to a canister, which gets intake vacuum. If it fails quickly, well, who cares? It's not like it ever gets tested for.

novaderrik, ignoring a check engine light is a great way to set yourself up for problems when a "real" issue occurs. It's not like the light comes on brighter when a second issue pops up. The light flashes when a serious problem occurs, but "serious" means it damages the catalyst, not the engine or transmission. So you find out that your trans was starting to slip, or your fuel pump was going weak and causing fuel trims to go out of whack under load, AFTER you're in the middle of nowhere with a 4000lb trailer and you have just blown a hole in a piston or lunched the transmission or something.

We have a 2003 LS TB and we never have a chance to over fill the tank - it clicks off and spits 3-4 ounces out every time. We also replace the gas cap every 2-3 years as it tends to trigger the CEL.

I'm usually "lucky" and find pumps that allow a trickle fill … so after the first couple of foamed up backfill click off, I can then trickle fill all the way to the top … 'course I tend to fill at a station that has their pumps on a side slope …. which also helps the trapped air to escape as I trickle fill

I've found that it can add as much as 50 mi. or more to a tank

and just for the heck of it … what is a LS TB ?
