I have been reading about engine treatments reduces wear, stops leaks, improves efficiency are these snake oil or for real?

All of these things are quite possible - synth oil will reduce wear and improve efficiency, a seal-sweller will stop leaks etc...the question should be about a particular product.
Doing oil analysis for the last 3 months... I will say "snake oil". Most products are just an additive to increase viscosity.
I have a feeling this thread is going to make me laugh........A LOT
Just like the massive amounts of peons who don't comprehend the differences in octane ratings and what that actually does.

Hey hey hey you git outta here with your big words and your book learnin like viscosity and lubricity.

That's what she said....
You mean I can't drain the oil, cut the radiator hoses, take the valve cover off and pour sand on the head, and still have the engine run???
Snake oil. I'm amazed that that stuff still sells in this day and age when it's so much easier to get information about what works and doesn't. But, clearly these companies are not hurting for business:
Can't tell you about every product, but I can tell you I know the owner of Slick50- he says it's snake oil.
He's a marketing genius, but will readily tell you that you can't pour teflon into an engine and have it do anything.
His take- oh well. Lot's of people want to buy the stuff, so he is happy to supply it.

I want the red neck definitions of those words.
The latest issue of Fur-Fish-Game has an article about making rattlesnake oil. It really draws in coyotes.
Some of it has it's (limited) uses, like topping off a old lawn mower with a rod knock with STP till it shuts up. Lucas trans fix will often make an automatic with bad internal seals work again. But generally speaking it's all a waste of money. Motor oil companies don't spend millions developing their additive packages for nothing.
I take great joy in cranking up those stupid Lucas gear climbing displays until they foam up.

Oh, it'll run. How long is the question

according to the Puerto Ricans that do this for fun, the old SOHC Alpha in the accents will run for 35 minutes before catching on fire.
