Yes I do! We get maybe 4-5 days all summer with temps in the 90's. Every 4-5 years it will hit 100.
Plus snow on the roads turns the roads into a race track. ( at legal speeds). Instead of slicks we use Blizzacks.
Typically we get a little snow in November December, a fair amount in January, February, maybe March, but then spring arrives just as we are tired of skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, snowmobiling, ice fishing, ice boating. It's also the time of year Super Bowl and the college bowls come around. Basketball, Hockey , ( my granddaughter is in the state high school girls hockey tournament semi final tonight)
Sitting around the fireplace watching tournament play on TV. Grabbing a beverage. And some chips? Rather pleasant way to watch the snow whistle around the house at 45 mph.
Next we have spring to look forward to. Gardens to tend. Apple trees to prune.
We were supposed to have sunny skies and 70* temps here in KC today, instead I woke up to light rain, and tomorrow's high may hit 33*!
Yep, spring is coming......from now on our weather swings will be legendary, then it will be T-storms and tornados!

I want to see current pictures of you on skis, ice skates, and snowboards.
I like snow and am disappointed when we don't get any but don't claim it's all peaches and cream. We know how many of you move south to get away from the cold so you can bake in our heat.
While you are cooped up in the house watching ball games, we are still playing with cars. Our 2023 autocross season started last week.

....Light rain. All these overreacting shiny happy person meteorologists need to switch to decaf. I expected to get up and shovel 82 inches of snow this morning, and...rain. Light rain.
I think every would be meteorologist that couldn't hack it, simply dropped out and then started a website. I've seen too much "PORKCHOP SANDWICHES! E36 M3, we're all dead! Nothing happened? *shoulder shrug* Opps" on the internets to think otherwise.
I know what you mean, it's like that down here in Tornado season. With the difference being you may have minutes to react if one drops near by vs hours or days to prepare.

You should try hurricanes. They have weeks to hype up the ignorant and gullible.

Darn I was going to show pictures of me in my T shirt and utility shorts working on the cars. In my shop. For some reason I can't down load pictures.
You'll have to use your imagination.
Regarding ice skating? You haven't seen my driveway. Solid ice base 80' towards the street and 50 feet where I toss salt down so my wife can get into the car.
Well except today 4-5 inches of snow. The plow hasn't come by yet. Won't until the storm passes. Still leaves a solid ice base. It's really a skating rink.
As for Ice boating? The snow came before it froze deep enough.
I'm just not into snowmobiles.

We have plenty of warning about tornados. Often drive around them watching them in the distance.

Watching the new crop panic is funny as hell. Every single time.
In reply to frenchyd :
Shorts and T-shirts in the shop are easy. That's any given Saturday year-round. In the winter I leave the door open, in the summer I close it and turn on the AC.

I get questions all the time, "What are you doing to prep for the storm?" Frequently the answer is, "What storm?" I don't watch the news much.
If it's more than 2 days from landfall, the answer is nothing. The house stays mostly stocked with food and such and the RV holds 85 gallons of gas and is always full. There is nothing to do. If you are prepared for life, you should be pretty prepared for a hurricane.
At 24 hours out, I will fill the RV water tank. I may or may not move the furniture off the porches. It depends on the size of the storm and if it's going in south or north of us.
At T-6 hours, I'll move all the vehicles away from the woods behind the house and test-fire the generators.
That's it.
85% of the time, the vehicles don't get moved and the generators don't get started because the storm has moved up the coast 100 miles and it's a non-event.

In the dead of the winter I'll wear a sweater over my T shirt and my jacket is a light fall jacket Anytime temps are over 32 I wear my T shirt and denim jacket
Once temps drop below -5 I'll actually wear a regular shirt with a sweater then the fall jacket.
In the summer we rarely turn on the A/C. We get a nice cool breeze off the lake and have enough windows to get one in the house. The shop? I'll open the boat house doors on the North and the garage door on the south. Temps have to be solidly in the 90's for me to close the doors up and let the A/C drift down.
My wife is a diabetic. Who is super sensitive to temps. She honestly keeps it at 74-78 in the winter. In the summer if the temp in the house ever got over 70 the A/C would go on instantly. Good insulation and plenty of windows plus a great big lake right out in front of me Ensures it's not a big issue.
Even though our heating bill is insanely high. It's reached $300/ month. None of my neighbors are less than 2-3 times what ours is.
I have to sleep in shorty pajama bottoms and no T shirt in the winter. If I start getting a head ache I'll check and the temp will be set over 80.

Watch out. If you get a slight cold snap your power won't work.

The only thing I really do is make sure I know where the cat carriers are in case I have to move the morons.
-15° windchills at the ski resort today with about 4-5" of accumulation. Still snowing. The snow is very light and cold so absolutely zero traction on top of my icy driveway. Got the jeep stuck sideways in the driveway on my second attempt to summit it. Gave up and parked at the bottom. Girlfriend not super happy about it, but I'm glad to not be going down that skating rink in the morning.
I will now start using "PORKCHOP SANDWICHES!" as an exclamation.
My internet slows down and becomes erratic whenever the temp drops below 10degF. But it also slows down and becomes erratic above 10degF, because Xfinity.
My random-mental-association song lyrics for tonight (although the temp is nothing exceptional):
I feel cold... uh huh, uh huh, uh huh.

I'm getting pretty tired of this ignorance. I've never once in my life heard someone say "the weatherman said it was gonna be sunny today, and it was" get it right and nobody notices but get ig wrong and every dip in town jumps down your throat.
Keep in mind that the weatherman is the only guy on the news that has to tell you things that haven't happened yet. The guy's job is literally 'predict the future' and people get pissy if he doesn't get it 100%.
We have had less than a half inch of snow all winter combined. Today's high is 80.
Weather say maybe some snow on Saturday, but turning promptly to rain with a high of 45.
The feeling here is, some people are still getting winter? I thought global warming did away with that?
I live just south of DC

Did you read his post? It had little to do with accuracy and everything to do with overhyping the weather for ratings.
The keyword in his post is overreacting.
o·ver·re·act
/ˌōvə(r)rēˈak(t)/
verb
gerund or present participle: overreacting
respond more emotionally or forcibly than is justified.
"they are urging people not to overreact to the problem"

If they have ever spent any time trying to predict the weather themselves. They would understand what a near impossible task that is.
If the wind caused by a low pressure area is just south of a mountain range, a grove of trees, a empty field it's easier to forecast the direction.
Out on the ship though it's all ocean. So things hundreds or even a thousand miles away will impact it. And then there is the whole upper air impact. Jet streams.
Actually those also impact weather over land.
If the forecast is more than 12 hours out the accuracy has massive number of variables left to play out.
Plus there is the local impact. 2-4 inches of rain could also drop to 1/2" or grow to 6". In certain spots in the broadcast area. Miss time it by minutes and Bob will get less than the 1/2. And Tom gets 8".
Last night I had about 2-3" of small ice balls in my yard, it felt like walking in really course sand. Over night it got rained on so it has a .5" crust of ice on it now. Really fun weather event. All while my wife was out driving around ignoring my texts.
Got about a half inch of pure ice here. Most of the folks around us don't have power, but so far we've been lucky. Lots of branches for me to clean up in the yard, though.
