You know the story, last minute issues you're fixing while in line for tech. Scrambling around and calling all the local junkyards for the part. Well, that happened to us. We prevailed, made it through tech, made it to the grid, had one incident where I broke an axle. I'm pretty sure it was the same axle the car left the factory with in 1994 and it made it 11 laps around Daytona before it finally decided to poop on me. Luckily we had a replacement on hand and expert Honda mechanics on our team to put us back out on track in less than 25 minutes. Anyways, we finished all 14 hours and at a snails pace; but, hey we finished the race, as a team we hit all of our goals, and most importantly I had an absolute blast and I'm totally hooked now. Why I never did this before escapes me. I don't care if we had one of the slowest cars out there, it was fun, I was on track with people who have the same driving talent as the college girls from the University I work next door too, and it made it very entertaining. If you were a driver of a Miata with a Momo livery right before the halfway red flag.....http://www.dmv.org/fl-florida/teen-drivers.php
That was a fun race. I was in the lead sled Lincoln Town Car for the 9am - 11am stint.
Almost got collected a couple times but managed to avoid contact. One of the later drivers had a red miata 4 wheel drift into the drivers side in the bus stop.
Dude that lead sled Lincoln was awesome! Our whole team loved that car. That first stint was chaos. I'll swap you guys one of your team shirts for ours.
Not my video or car but the last part of this video I almost had a code brown as I was in the mix of things. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNAeoYd1pqA

Addicting, ain't it? Take a picture of your wallet and bank statements as they are now. They're about to change significantly. Hell, I'm considering flying 800 miles next weekend just to work on a team car.
Thanks for posting that. The Blue Z that crashed out there was the Beerios car that I was crewing for. I thought he had hit the spun Camaro but it looks like he must have hit the wall instead. Hard to see how he and the USS Enterprise got together unless the USS E spun around the outside of the Camaro and they met on the far side. Took our car out for the race and most likely the season as it did a real number on the frame.
Our driver said the yellow flag was not out yet s he had no clue there was an incident around the turn. This was confirmed by race control but even watching this video the waving yellow is difficult to see.
Greg, wish I'd have know you were there I would have stopped by and said "Hi". The weekend wasn't a total loss as I picked up a complete Thunderbird turbo drivetrain about 15 miles S of Daytona on Saturday with a 2 extra turbos and a bunch of spares.
Yessir, it's a lot of fun!
My last Code Brown was at Barber back in February; I crested the hill just past 12 and was maybe 18" to the right of my usual line. Good thing, because a car had just spun backwards off the course and was right in my usual line.
Skip to about 26:30 to watch the fun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2NZVxpFdu0
Here is a much better view of the actual crash from the first video. He did hit the Camaro.

Ouch, I almost smacked into the Camaro as well right there. I saw the yellow flag but there wasn't much time to slow down and from the video I posted, it looks like I ran racing 4 vets neon off the road but E36 M3 I wasn't about to wreck my car 41 minutes in. Seriously, other than a few knobs out there, I fing love it. I'm actually working on trading in my fast DD for something I can haul/tow with. Can't wait for the next race. We have a lot of work to do on our ride in the meantime but just awesome stuff.
Sorry I missed you guys out there.
I thought I saw you hobiecr but it was one of those moments by the time I realized it it was a couple minutes later. I was sorry to see that Z damaged. Driver alright?
Dirty - I am just a renter with them so I'm not sure on the shirt front. Were you guys in the accord?
Was there an Infinit j30 there with a Q45 V8 engine swapped in?
I read elsewhere on the internet that someone was building one for the Daytona race. I am not sure where I read about that (I don't think it was here.)
Also not sure if it got completed in time.
Yes the J30 was out there with V8 powah. I saw it running into the wee hours of the afternoon not sure about the finish.
Greg, yes we were in the god awfully slow Accord. I think in tech we only hit 345 points so we have some room for improving HP and handling.
Still can't believe it lasted all 14 hours. Just one week ago we were blowing 50amp fuses with no idea how it was happening, no time in the car, and about 10 minutes on the motor since the all the new gaskets and belts were put on.
We had a traqmate installed with 128gb of SD card storage and two cameras and it didn't record 1 second of video. Stupid firmware only allows for 32gb SD cards max to work. One thing we probably should have tested first.
